It is a well known and documented phenomena that has been a recurring theme in the arts for decades. But it is a different perspective to live it and it is quite unsettling to realize that your generation will never know the expansive freedom and autonomy that my generation had. That is not pessimism. That is observation. If I were a pessimist why would I still be beating my head against a brick wall supporting options for sane computing and putting up with your misdirected abuse? We really are on the same team but from different perspectives.

Are you aware that this very forum was one of my many contributions to devuan? Early on, I self-hosted it for several years before it was eventually taken up by the project.

Seems like this thread has morphed into an ode to the passing of the torch from those whose brains were formed before the internet and  those who have never really known true autonomy. This passing of the torch is nothing new but it has never before been a worldwide event. We play with the machine but it is the machine that owns us. We have become what we have collectively thought and imagined for decades and as usual, shot ourselves in the foot yet again. This is not progress. It is just repeating same mistake yet again. Humans never seem to learn . . .

One thing I am regretting at this moment is that it is unlikely that I will be around to see how my "detractor" will deal with the latest technologies when he is 83! LOL!!! But then, it's doubtful the world will even be habitable by then. Not that my generation didn't try to turn things around and I have personally spent decades engaged in that effort. Despite the successes, things have only gotten exponentially worse. Now our species is rapidly devolving so probably best that Mother Nature will take care of the "human problem" before too long . . .

Perhaps that task has been waiting for YOU to suggest it, set it up and keep track of all its moving parts.

Also, be aware that there are several irc channels that deal with different aspects of devuan's development.

We have a weekly jitsi meet and you are welcome to join us. Also feel free to talk to us on our IRC channels where the devs hang out. The forum is more for user assistance than development issues.

LOL! I have never written code and I couldn't write a bash script if my life depended on it! That is not what I do for Devuan. Yet Devuan would not be what is is today without my presence. If you don't know that by now you really haven't a clue about what makes Devuan tick.

But contemplate this . . . Dyne only provided airfare to the Amsterdam Conference to two people and I was one of them. Seems that Jaromil had a different assessment of the value of my contributions to Devuan . . .
