ceres with MATE here, no such problem.. where do you see these errors? which log? maybe there's something else there too?
A warning window displayed at logon!
dbus 1.12.16-2+devuan1 came in ceres on 6/5/2020, so if it was dbus problem it would appear earlier.. could be something else triggering this error.

I'm not seeing it in my ceres installation. Everything says Devuan 4 ceres except /etc/issue, which still says 3.

Utilisateur de Linux, depuis très longtemps, ma distribution favorite était Debian Sid, pendant très longtemps. Il y a quatre ans, à peu près au virage systemd, auquel je ne me suis pas fait, et actuellement que je refuse, pour la simple raison que pendant cette période je suis "tombé amoureux" d'OpenBSD. À deux, nous sommes même créateurs d'une communauté - certes petite encore - d'utilisateurs francophone d'OpenBSD, nommée "OpenBSD Pour Tous" - obsd4* - actuellement visible sur : openbsd.fr.eu.org - où je suis principalement administrateur.
Pendant très longtemps, j'ai utilisé différentes formes d'*Buntu sur différents postes auprès de relations "newbies", - souvent du Linux Mint, pour eux - mon poste personnel étant toujours une Debian Sid. D'ailleurs auprès des communautés FR Ubuntu, Debian, on me retrouve avec le même pseudo.
Je suis le plus actif - autant que possible, en tant que modo - sur debian-fr.org.
@Fredg, utilisateur ici, peut confirmer mon propos, car il me connaît principalement au-travers de la communauté Obsd4*.
Ce qui m'a amené à tester Devuan - en saveur Ceres - est le fait que j'ai une station que j'utiliise actuellement sur une vieille carte mère Intel ; et Debian (Sid) avec son systemd est lent, de plus en plus lent. Et franchement, je suis agréablement surpris par Devuan ; sa rapidité de chargement, sa gestion des ressources mémoires, et matérielles ; pour le même DE, "afficionado" de Xfce, je suis heureux de retrouver l'esprit Debian de ma distrib Linux préférée, mais celle qui était facile et agréable à utiliser, il y a de cela quelques années en arrière, mais aussi à administrrer.
Parce que quand on vient d'OpenBSD, Debian aujourd'hui n'est vraiment plus agréable ni à l'un, ni à l'autre !
Donc, merci pour le travail accompli, et bonne continuation !

OK, I purged .cache/mozilla/firefox.
I Installed apulse. Always no sound!

And I repeat, with kernel 5.4.0-x, this run without no problem; sounds and video files are OK!
All run correctly (Firefox, VLC, Zoom, and others)!

Hi
I run Devuan Ceres on amd64 architecture, with Xfce as DE.
$ uname -a
Linux *** 5.5.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.5.17-1 (2020-04-15) x86_64 GNU/LinuxWith the kernel 5.4.0-4, I have not any specific problem; but with the kernels 5.5.0-(1|2), I have this trouble: no sound with firefox (or videoconf, as zoom), egual for VLC.
If I download a video, or one music, I have not sound on the file!
Terrible!
(and, yes, the sound volume is open, at audible level).
But, If I use Audacious, I can hear the music!
I known, it's weird.

PS: FYI, I used since severals years Debian Sid, or *Buntu liked… (or OpenBSD).
