I was updating an ancient 32-Bit 686 laptop to Excalibur and nearly got a broken install when the sse3-support package failed to install and aborted the dist-upgrade. Anyone else doing things like this might want to check which features their CPU doesn't have - see the list on the left side of https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/isa-support and pin them to prevent them being attempted at the start rather than being caught out like I was! To do this in my case this required the following in a file in /etc/apt/preferences.d/ containing:
Package: sse3-support
Pin: release *
Pin-Priority: -1obviously adjusting the first line to match...

Where is the problem? Yes, Bookworm and Chimaera have been archived. The final update of Chimaera still is possible, you simply have to switch your sources.list to archive like this here:
I also had a resolveconf problem which was producing all sorts of connectivity problems (hence not being able to download packages) and I had miss-spelled "daedalus" as "deadalus" in /etc/apt/sources.list - so multiple issues were impacting each other!
This is an old, limited, 686 32-bit machine with only the Devuan OS mainly used as a local (LAN) repository backup for some projects I code - and as an emergency backup machine when my main triple-boot Desktop has problems.
Anyhow the information on how to work from CD/DVD/Usb thumbdrive did help me resolve this and I was glad it was covered here.

I'm about to try this as the PC I'm doing it for (not my primary machine) cannot update from the Chimaera repositories any more because they have been archived and the corresponding upstream Debian packages needed to update the existing Chimaera system are not in the expected place either - so it is not possible to do the sudo apt upgrade of the Chimaera installation prior to editing the /etc/apt/sources.list.

In any case, Tailscale is a commercial service: so ask their support team and see what they say.
The Linux offering is significantly FOSS as far as I can tell so it is not entirely commercial IMHO - especially if used in conjunction with the Headscale project to replace the Tailscale "coordination" server!

It does entirely look as though the development of this product got sucked into the pool occupied by the systemd hydra...|
This post prompted by myself looking to go down this route for a (temporary) holiday setting involving using a fresh Raspbian OS install on a spare Raspberry Pi - with the unwanted init system which will be wiped out after the vacation (I'll accept the nasty on that unit for the duration but the rest of my boxen I'll treat as if they are fatally allergic to it!)

I just did an apt update, apt upgrade and my Daedalus system has gotten it's Nvidia graphics packages messed up - according to aptitude this seems to be because most of the NVidia packages have been updated to 525.147.05-4~deb12u1 but firmware-nvidia-gsp in particular (but nvidia-kernel-dkms and nvidia-settings also look suspicious) is not available at that version for that Devuan version (they seem to be back at 525.125.06-1~deb12u1):
