Hello ,
i also use
printer-driver-escprbecause i am not able to install "lsb-package" at the moment, but it won't help with duplex-printing.
maybe i am doing something wrong here?
ok, it seemed the very first thing to do would have been
sudo apt install -t beowulf-backports linux-headers-amd64but in my case it was already installed , maybe because i had installed the "Nvidia-Linux ..run" previously or maybe installing "nvidia-driver" via backports installed those aswell?
Hello ,
i am back with the setting up of the desktop PC;
it has a Nvidia graphics card GTX 1650 and i am having problems setting the graphics card up properly.
tried to install the "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-450.80.02.run" package, but some things seemed not function,
so i went the "official" route through devuan drivers.
what i did
1. went to Debian Wiki to lookup how it is done there
https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers
2. adapted from debian-backports to devuan-backports (in my case beowulf-backports)
3. installed the one-liner
apt install -t beowulf-backports nvidia-driver 4. deleted nvidia-persistenced (it gave error)
apt autoremove nvidia-persistenced5. reboot
it would normally boot and give some error "nvidia-persistenced not found" somewhere during boot process;
but then Xserver would start and i could normally logonwas to a functional desktop.
was trying to test then with GFXbench, and some error were visible so probably the nvidia-driver installation is faulty?

thank you very much.
@GlennW , thank you, i tried your method, and it brought me a functioning desktop. However there were some error messages, one notably
WARNING: Unable to determine the path to install the libglvnd EGL vendor library config files. Check that you have pkg-config and the libglvnd development libraries installed, or specify a path with --glvnd -egl -config-path.
Thank you Pedro, i have seen that this gphoto2 is active with Camera on Wheezy, too.
However, on Devuan it seems the package is not enough.

thank you very much - it seems however that when installing
gphoto2 with "sudo apt install gphoto2" it is not enough as it does not install the dependencies. maybe i am doing it wrong?
please indicate me a proper line for installing it correctly, and please include this software by default.
on beowulf i had to first fix pulseaudio , dont know if this sitll applies
what i didd on powerpc probably or mac osx to compile it for newer version, you could always try that with help on github pages or wiki.
@yes, it is functioning, but i would like still to install driver package, for better options etc. also duplex is otherwise sometimes greyed out.
i just checked on my older T60 running debian wheezy, and there the camera is perfectly recognized.
hello,
i am having the same problem.
is there a solution yet?
it happens after coming back from suspend; if i just disconnect the ethernet cable and reconnect, nothing happens, and wicd manager shows no ethernet connection at all.
my ethernet seems this one
product: 82567LM Gigabit Network Connectionjmtpfs -d 001,003 /media/camera
No mtp devices found.sorry, but the camera shows only "USB-Mode PTP/MTP"
"Speicherkarte - Wiederg. per "Wiedergabe" - Tastendruck" eg. "Memorycard - Playback via "Play" - Buttonpress"
if playbutton is pressed, the only think happens is that the internal display on the camera is being changed from the above message/statusscreen to the active fotomanager on the camera, eg. the photos are being displayed on-cam.
lsblk is giving the following output
lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:0 0 111.8G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 108.9G 0 part /
├─sda2 8:2 0 1K 0 part
└─sda5 8:5 0 2.9G 0 part [SWAP]
sr0 11:0 1 1024M 0 rom
will check the next days on ubuntu after iget my cmputer back to see if it behaves there differently, but i believe so.
yes, both devices are usb-connected, and have proprietary cables (from what i understand > typically sony)
maybe i am doing something wrong wh, but i think the camera is instantly recognized on ubuntu with the same procedure.
the walkman has only internal flash installed (but can handle also additional micro-SD-card up to 2TB or maybe even more)
the camera has a 32gb old sd-card (the bigger ones) and probably no flash memory.
exfat-fuse and exfat-utils
seem already manually installed (maybe leftover from ascii installation?)
laptop T400 has 3 usb ports, it does not make a difference if ports are switched, camera not shown in filemanager.

will do some more testing.
thanks for your help.
thank you,
i did not know this program,
and i don't like to download all fotos as it does now through terminal.
it like to show up the camera in file manager and select the photos myself.
i have upgraded the system on the laptop from Ascii to Beowulf, but that should not make a difference in recognizing the Camera;
the update process proceeded without any errors,
Thank you very much.
Hello ,
i would like to transfer the pictures from Camera Sony W830 to the laptop.
However, the PTP/MTP is not being recognized by Devuan 3.0 Beowulf and the Camera would not show up as an external storage (it should show from 30 to 32GB)
What am i doing wrong?
@head_on_a_Stick, thanks, good suggestion.
@blackhole, yes, probably unsupported, as i just installed devuan beowulf anew (with nividia 1650)
and it would not go into "X"; so i was greeted with terminal window instead;
installing
nvidia-driverdoes not resolve, well at least it gives a graphical desktop, but blocks the terminal thereafter with "nvidia-persistenced".
if i need backports, i will try those.
EDIT: tried also installing the drivers from bakcports,
i am still getting "nvidia-persistenced" error.
please someone write a small guide on how to properly install nvidia-drivers, not just the legacy ones.
the graphics is rtx 1650
lspci -nn | egrep -i "3d|display|vga"

Multiple precompiled driver versions are available for Debian 10 "Buster":

Supports Kepler, Maxwell, Pascal, and all current Turing GPUs. Supports Vulkan 1.2 and OpenGL 4.6.
Note that 450.66 is currently only available in buster-backports.
alright, now i have everything installed, and next problem comes up:
how can i properly switch to nvidia card?
i have two monitors setup, and triple boot /(devuan , windows 7, ubuntu 18.04).
after changing from amd to nvidia card, only devuan seems to boot.
now, i suppose, i need to just to deinstall the firmware-amd-graphics on devuan and install nvidia driver package?
but what to do on ubuntu, if it would not boot properly, and on windows?
do i need to put the other card back in and preopare already the machine with the nvidia drivers in place?
thank you.
EDIT: i understand that the nouveau driver functions also so as it is,
but i tried with display manager on xfce to change the monitor setup, and the result was that i could not longer access most part of the screens that seemed somhow frozen and could only be maneauvred by clicking in the leftover part, practically clicking blind over the place -
it functions however with
sudo hibernate --force
on another laptop i have also problem with hibernation. it is running on devuan beowulf
sudo hibernate
hibernate:Warning: Tuxonice binary signature file not found.
Some modules failed to unload: nvidia
hibernate: Aborting suspend due to errors in ModulesUnloadBlacklist (use --force to override).alright,
now i tried with
kernel 5.7 and newer linux-amd-graphics from backports (thanks rolfie)
Linux Office-PC 5.7.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.7.10-1~bpo10+1 (2020-07-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux
firmware-amd-graphics is already the newest version (20200918-1~bpo10+1).
but the error remains
(0.00000) (Firmware Bug): (AMD-Vi) : IOAPIC(1) not in IVRS Table
(0.00000) (AMD-Vi) : Disabling interrupt remappingbut it seems there is no major issues so i can live with that;
going to upgrade to Matisse soon, so maybe the error goes then away; the Bios is already quite the latest if i am not mistaken.
^ Yes, they mentioned that in the OP.
kapqa wrote:i suspect also the Open Source AMD Driver for the poor performance
The open source amdgpu driver outperforms the proprietary version for almost all tasks and anyway AMD themselves only recommend the proprietary driver for their PRO cards (hence the name).
i had used fglrx driver before and also use the proprietary driver on ubuntu as i found it more responsive than the opensource,
also some features enable to use AMD VCE encoding in Handbrake (which is similare to quicksync and nvidia enc)
which opensource don't yet enable.
Give firmware-amd-graphics nad the 5.7 kernel from backports a try.
rolfie
thanks rolfie,
but how could i do that?
there is no "ukuu" on devuan?
don't find any mentioning of beowulf backports?
how to easily upgrade the kernel then?
