everything works IMMEDIATELY for me no matter what printer I use
(without adding any printer, without any setup or configuration)
with this (in devuan Excalibur):

1. open terminal
2. execute: sudo ipp-usb
3. KEEP THE TERMINAL WINDOW OPEN AND RUNNING..
4. connect and turn on the printer-scanner
5. print as much as you want.. all is working
6. scan what you want (first select the scanner from the menu); all is working
7. close the terminal window (and the printer-scanner won't work any longer)
