I am trying to use the bug report tool to report this problem, however it doesn't seem to be working correctly.

Is anyone having a problem using the Lxpanel task manager? I have run into a problem which looks like a repeat of https://github.com/lxqt/lxqt-panel/issues/1600 It was supposed to be fixed but I am running the unstable version of Devuan and I cannot get the task manager popup to work correctly. By playing with it I found a way to make it work by using the right button to first click on a task manager item them adding a left click but it shouldn't work like that.

I found the answer, I wanted to change the background on the login screen. Since I am using LXQT, the background is provided and the default background for the display manager, in this case LXDM. That is set in the LXDM config file (/etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf) by setting the bg variable and pointing it to an image file the login background is set. Simple!

My bad, SLiM is a display manager not the login manager and I am using LXDM as my display manager since I am using LX-qt
If you are using Beowolf, I would recommend that yuotry and older kernel. I do remember that problem with one version of the 4. something kernel and then again with a version of the 5 kernel.
I am running a Dell laptop with an AMD A12 processor and I remember that other folks had the same problem.
Good Luck fixing things.

Thanks, LXQT is also very light weight and is similar to LXDE. It seems like no one know how to liven up elogind. I briefly looked and the code and asked this question in the IRC channel for elogind with no response.
Maybe I should change to slim as my login manager but changing the background isn't documented with slim. Bummer.
I see that you are running with and AMD processor, I also have an AMD A12 and I have run into several suspend issues over the last few years. Twice the kernel folks broke systems with AMD processors causing suspend issues when someone was updating some kernel stuff. I was running Fedora when this happened. My system would suspend but the screen would never come back on wake up. The screen was blank, black and the system would not respond to the keyboard.
I had the same issue when changing to Devuan Chimera. I fixed my problem by using synaptic and searching for amd. I installed the AMD firmware package, along with the firmware and graphics package which fixed my problem. My system suspends and hibernates properly now.
I hope this helps.

I am using Chimaera on my laptop and I am loving it!!! I am moving off from Fedora and am glad to be rid of systemd!! In customizing my system I have been unable to figure out how to change the background for the login screen when using elogind. The documentation never discusses how to do it. Does anyone know if it is possible? If so how? or is there another login manager that I should be using. I use LXDE as my desktop (it very lightweight) and gives be better battery life than Gnome or KDE.
