[SOLVED] Suddenly no audio

Hey there folks big_smile

Suddenly I have no audio on my system. It's been working perfectly for months, but then I turned the laptop on this morning and... Silence! I haven't tinkered with the system recently, so not sure what happened there.

How can I check if it's something system-wise or if I need to blame my DE (Trinity Desktop)?

This is the result of

aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC269VB Analog [ALC269VB Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1

card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 9: HDMI 3 [HDMI 3]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Also,

alsamixer

shows device 0 as the default.

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: Well, that was quick. Installing pavucontrol-qt and setting PulseAudio as the current mixer in Kmix did the trick. Leaving this here in case other users encounter the same issue!

Re: [SOLVED] Suddenly no audio

Well, that's a good question! lol

I'm not sure really. As mentioned, I wasn't tinkering or anything, nor did I perform any update. I turned the laptop off last night and everything was working, then this morning I was greeted with no audio.

Re: [SOLVED] Suddenly no audio

Same issue. I had switched from pulseaudio to pipewire. At the moment I have to run a script to start the service that exposes audio resources.
If it's your case too, I can provide the script later.

Re: [SOLVED] Suddenly no audio

Sometimes when I attempt to listen to a youtube video, my USB headset doesn't work.
Sometimes it will work after a reboot, sometimes messing with the audio control panel gets it working.
(I'm not sure which random mouse click brings it back....)

Re: [SOLVED] Suddenly no audio

After a couple of weeks I have encountered the same issues, even after installing pavucontrol-qt. I have noticed that the issue occurs when my laptop is connected via HDMI to a monitor, and I plug in my AUX headphones. As mentioned by Tweedlewise, it's all very random: a reebot solves the issues most of the time, but sometimes I have to do soma magic with the audio control panel or unplug the HDMI / aux to make it work.
The issue is still solved anyway, and it doesn't bother me that much when it happens big_smile
