Hello,
I  have made Devuan Beowulf network core install then I have upgraded to Devuan Chimaera with no problem.
After reboot I  have install xfce4, pavucontrol, pulseaudio, and lightdm.
But  then pulse audio starts always muted. I  need to turn  pulseaudio  on  to have  sound. Sound  then works  fine.
But I would like to  have  pulse audio unmuted  at login as it is in general instalation.
What am I missing?

Hi Lars,
followed that guide after install, therefore I put question on the forum.
That guide did not help.
Greetings
Jiri

Was PulseAudio unmuted at boot under beowulf? Things break sometimes in the development branches, hence the name "testing".

Pulse was not installed.
stable core install > upgrade to testing > xfce4, pulse and etc. installation
I have tried the same way in Debian, result is identical.
But when I run tasksel (Devuan or Debian) and then pick desktop installation - common installation (and install another stuff that I do not want to have.), pulse is activated at logon after restart.
There must be some package, settings which activates/unmute pulse at logon.

It's really a sad mess this, PulseAudio does not offer anything which were not available in the first place; PA is just an unnecessary layer!
More of a mess comes from development thinking this is the future.
