@jptiran freeoffice is not even open source just to warn you. However, onlyoffice has an open source variant.
I would recommend the 2nd if you can't use openoffice or libreoffice.

Hello Zapper.
I tried to install onlyoffice, thru a download from there site, based in there Debian version.
I tried to extract the program to install it. Yet could not progress. What is missing or wrong?
Thank you and regards,

What kind of problem did you have installing onlyoffice? I just used "sudo dpkg -i onlyoffice-desktopeditors.deb" and it installed fine. I distro hop quite a bit so I've done this several times - with one problem. After installing it the database is broken. This happens with each install for Devuan and Debian both. You can do sudo apt update and everything looks normal. When I run sudo apt upgrade, however, I get a msg to run "sudo apt --fix-broken install". I just run the command and everything works after that.
I've had this problem with the three last releases of onlyoffice. Not sure what their issue is.
As far a Brave goes - just go to their web site. There are commands there to install Brave on Debian. Just run those commands and it will work for Devuan or Debian. It's just a cut and paste task. Nothing to it.
Updated... I should mention that once installed they are updated along with everything else when you run "sudo apt update" and "sudo apt upgrade" if they have an upgrade.

Nice work, I was coming here to post just that but you covered it perfectly. It wasn't hard at all and browser works pretty good, it's built-in ad-blocking does a nice job.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/vuu-do/ New Vuu-do isos uploaded October 2025!
Vuu-do GNU/Linux, minimal Devuan-based Openbox and Mate systems to build on. Also a max version for OB.
Devuan 5 mate-mini iso, pure Devuan, 100% no-vuu-do.
Devuan 6 version also available for testing.

if ya wanna be lazy and barely type commands to install brave there's always https://github.com/eylles/devuan-script … -installer
just run the script as brave-installer install and it takes care of the installation, it uses classic style sources tho, i have to add the option to use the deb822 format

Both Brave and Onlyoffice can be installed by enabling the repositories through the extrepo package.

commentary on browsers, see especially regarding Brave

I’m going to get a bunch of gullible fools recommending Brave. Brave was founded by Brendan Eich, the inventor of JavaScript, after he was kicked out of Mozilla for being a massive homophobe. Brave is into weird cryptocurrency nonsense and I’ve written up their dodgy behaviours in the past. Brave also has a whole webpage about how much they love AI. So Brave is not the non-AI option. Stop recommending people use Brave.
