Welcome to Devuan! While I appreciate your contribution, I am puzzled by the title. I have no idea how to pronounce it, can't remember how to spell it so not in my memory bank and "Vende" as in the French verb "Vendre" which means "to sell" has me confused as to your intentions. Please enlighten me. Thanks!
It is an option in Thunar also.
Well . . . your English is better than my Ukrainian and we can understand what you are trying to say. Thing is that if information related to your installation is misspelled, our search engine won't be able to find solutions to any problems you might solve. Just a bit more attention would be really appreciated. Thanks. ![]()
I don't remember seeing firmware-misc-nonfree before.
According to https://www.devuan.org/os/packages you should have these in your sources.list:
non-free-firmware, non-free and contrib
I'm probably missing something . . . sorry for the noise.
@deepforest . . . There is no "Deadalus" at Devuan (or anyplace else afaik).
PLEASE stop posting erroneous technical information on this forum and correct your previous spelling errors that might confuse other users. I am tired of cleaning up your mess.
Then . . . learn how to spell DAEDALUS correctly so our search engine will find the actual Devuan distribution to which you are referring.
Thanks for helping to make this forum a more accurate resource for other users.
The-Amnesiac-Philosopher is not so amnesiac, it seems. LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for doing that! Why didn't you put them in Devuan's git? Pulling out the two I prefer and adding them to the git art section is still on my list . . . ![]()
@neilgunton . . . My comment was related to execution rather than content as it was rather structured analysis that didn't get sidetracked. zapper can often be whimsical and a bit silly too. He is like family.
As to your question . . . This forum does have a search function. ![]()
You might also want to look at The dev1galaxy.org (almost) No Code of Conduct.
I have never even seen debian or devuan say this LOL.
First sentence of the third paragraph on:
https://www.devuan.org/os/documentation … o-daedalus
Note that skipping releases is not supported.
Although, its probable I just didn't do enough research.
You think?
@zapper . . . that has to be one of your best posts ever!
Oh well . . . maybe someone else will wake up to the idea of becoming part of the solution . . .
How long before they work out ways to exclude Devuan from being able to decouple systemd? I'm sure it's in the works.
That may end up depending on how many elves there are in the workshop. Devuan has been a labor of love for many of us but we are a small team that could use more hands on deck. Sadly folks love to USE Devuan but not many donate their time and talent(s) to help create it so the bus factor looms. We need redundancy and a new generation of creatives to keep Devuan on track. Care to dive in?

https://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=120652Lots of good stuff in these links, thanks very much! One line that jumped out at me in the final article, "there was no debate". Very interesting how these things can happen, they creep in and before you know it, it's a fait accompli. Too late to do anything about it now! Oh well! Kind of reminds me of some other things that have happened more recently in the political realm, but we won't go into all that.
Having lived through it, I can testify that it was indeed the ugly, farcical manipulation that dasein analyzes so eloquently. Some of those speaking out were banned from the Debian developers mailing list. I got a warning. There was some debate on the Debian forum at the time but systemd discussions are now not even allowed afaik. When IBM bought Red Hat, everything started to come into focus, then Poettering moved to MS and then, fait accompli, everything became perfectly clear.

DUH! So much for my reading skills! It's been a busy morning . . .
The scroll wheel works for me to zoom.
Sorry for the noise.

If you find a way to fix it, do share with the community. Thanks.
Question: How to make the grub and theming reflect Daedalus instead of Chimaera
You'll need to switch to the Clearlooks-Phenix-Sapphire theme in "Appearance" or manually from /usr/share/themes/ and also select it in the "Window Manager" options. There may be other parts in /usr/share/themes/. grub-styling is in /usr/share/desktop-base/. It is the default in Daedalus (or should be). How it's set up is a mystery to me but maybe fsmithred can jump in to sort things more clearly. Nice to hear that some folks really like Sapphire. Thank you!
[EDIT] You can also get all the pieces HERE.
OK. I broke down and repositioned the logo. It was a quick and dirty job and I had to boot my old Jessie to do it. Ugh!
Anyway, while IMO it is an improvement, the font sizing relative to the logo is not harmonious. Would probably look better centered between the V and A with both ends at the apex of those to letters that were created especially for this logo. I leave that task to those of you who can speak machine better than I. Here you go:
If this forum is even capable of moving topics, that is.
Yes. If appropriate.
@boughtonp & alexkemp . . . thanks for working on a way to create a "Powered by Devuan" icon that Devuan can be proud of! I would join the technical fray but as I age the effort of dealing with the machine is overwhelming . . .
I can help to optimize the layout verbally though. ![]()
Black and white is fine as the colors have always changed with each release. And kiss. No borders or drop shadows. We are minimalists in this camp!! ![]()
I think that swoosh-like 'D' should have its own space ... eh ... room around it. Quick and dirty: https://test.szaktilla.de/powered_by_devuan.png
just my 2 ct
Gregor
Still looks lopsided. Try aligning it all the way to the right side of the "N" . . .
Yes. Right now it is a bit cramped and lopsided but shouldn't take much to fix it . . .
Someone just sent me this: https://transfer.sh/Lr44QJPhCW/powered_by_devuan.png
Would look better to get the text off of the swoosh and jammed in the corner. I'd line it up to the RH side. Would be much more balanced. I would do it myself but . . . well after nearly nine years of doing it myself, it's time to pass the torch.
For those who might be interested, here's the history of the creation of the Devuan logo back in 2015.
It's not on the site yet . . . Any chance we can have a look?
