Here is one of them.
I have a laptop with Synaptic TouchPad and Daedalus installed.
Default
synclient -l
...
MaxSpeed = 1.7
Add to
etc/X11/xo/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-synaptics.conf
Option "ManSpeed" "1"
We get
synclient -l
...
MaxSpeed = 2.5
Where did this figure come from?
We change it to another value, and we get another result that does not coincide with the specified one.
@steve_v
Don't take it seriously
I have the full impression that ChatGPT is already starting its third branch.

Not quite on topic, for clarity, You can compare processors.

I have a netbook with an AMD E-300 processor, but DE Trinity TDE is installed.
The brightness is adjusted without problems by the tdepowersave GUI program. At the same time, it contains all the power settings.

... they refuse all Linux ;-) !
small tinkers? ok ...
If about children and software.
My son is a professional video editor and director (state university, master class, etc.)
His work can be seen on our TV.
He prefer Mac for work.
If I were him, I would do the same; you can’t skimp on the tools you use to earn money.
...I see, that to become out Refracta a real distribution, it would be important to begin to produce some lingual adapted versions, as in a other case it is only a cheap remaster of the real distribution Devuan...
It's Linux!
Nobody owes anyone anything, everyone does it for their own pleasure and our desires do not always coincide with the interests of the developers. Do it yourself, this is life, objective reality, I’m in the same position...

It depends on the task; on the dpreview forum, 16Gb RAM is not enough for photographers.
I decided to stop tormenting my E-300 netbook and yesterday I bought an ancient ThinkPad X201 with an i5-560M processor.
The asking price is two cartons of cigarettes (~$70).

In my case the reason was the included repository
deb http://packages.devuan.org/devuan/ unstable main
Disabling it solved the problem.
Indeed, the libnm0 version in this repository is newer than the installable version of network-manager.

Need to say.
This happened on an experimental computer.
On the other, where all sorts of extra packets do not fall, everything is fine.

@oui
Thanks for the explanations, now I more or less understand the reasons for your problems.
Linux has never been distinguished by full-fledged drivers and firmware of peripheral devices, but by such exotic things as pens with sensors, and even more so. I try to avoid them, so I can hardly advise anything sensible.
The reason for different behavior of different kernels may be enabling/disabling some options when configuring the kernel for compilation. You can check this by comparing the files /boot/config-xxx.
The i915 lines obviously refer to the video driver.
But purely practically, maybe try PCLinuxOS?
There, uncle Texstar compiles kernels with the latest innovations and does not look back at licenses.
But this is just my guess, I have no experience with exotics.

Yeah, reminiscences... I read it once...
The landowner was so moved by seeing the poverty of his peasants that he decided to give them his old dress pants...
Now seriously.
My specialty, in which I am a pro, is instruments and measurement systems.
And I want to note that each device has its own service life. The most unreliable elements of computers are electrolytic capacitors. their lifespan is approximately several thousand hours. Has anyone had to resolder them in motherboards?
I had to.
And such repairs most often cost more than a new product; manual labor of highly qualified workers and expensive equipment are required.
Therefore, the sooner we forget about 32 bits, the better...

@The-Amnesiac-Philosophe
I tried it.
Here I told you what I did and what I received

Hobby is an irrational concept!
I have to, there is no sound in FF without pulseaudio, I asked for a recipe here on the forum, it doesn’t help.
And “garbage” in Brave is disabled in the settings, I also talked about this.
Here is another reason to use a Chrome based browser.
Because of its best video codec (Google's monopoly on YouTube), on my dead computer the video is played at a resolution a step higher than in FF, 720p without problems over the network.
But who prevents anyone from doing such a test with any browser?
P.S.About browsers.
In Chimaera 4.0 I used Iridium, pulled from PClinuxOS and converted into a deb package.
I tried it in Daedalus 5.0, the conversion ends with an error, although if you manually put the files extracted from the rpm package into the required folders, everything works.
An illustration of my skepticism towards "minimal" DE.
We have a computer with an AMD E-300 processor (2*1.3GHz) and 4Gb of memory, Daedalus 5.0 with TDE.
This is CPU load when idle and opening applications in the form of peaks.
And this is real Internet surfing with the Brave browser in which up to ten tabs were opened.
In my opinion, even under pure X the situation will not get better.
I have been using this computer for three years and the problem of processor shortage is gradually growing.
Therefore, I am actively looking for a replacement.
Although colleagues may have a different opinion, it would be interesting to know their recipes.
P.S.I didn’t post a picture of the memory load, there’s nothing interesting there, it’s busy at the level of 50...60%
@DelTomix
...How much time do you spend interacting with your login screen and what has it done for you lately ? big_smile big_smile...
Not at all, no login screen
This is my computer, I am the only user, so WM is configured for automatic passwordless login.
“Minimalism” usually results in poking at the keyboard instead of just clicking on an application icon or menu item.
@GlennW
Thanks for the information, this is new to me.
Although the page in your link has a dependency on systemd.
But to be honest, I don’t have such global tasks as the respected topic starter @oui.
If I need to install a couple of downloaded packages, then simply apt install "path_file_name" is usually enough.
Regards.
This is done very simply on systems with RPM packages.
In openSuse, I simply added any folder as a repository.
In Debian, only the CD-ROM (or USB flash drive) can be simply connected using
apt-cdrom
And the difficult path is described here, but only in Russian, I didn’t find another one.

@steve_v
I disagree, ..,
Of course, we each have our own opinion, undeniable, since it is subjective.
Regards.
I had a problem with writing a large file to a flash drive caused by a lack of memory.
/tmp was loaded into memory and there was simply not enough buffer space, the recording froze.
Then this was solved by removing /tmp from /etc/fstab.
But this was with the old kernel, later this error did not appear, apparently the new kernel allocates memory more correctly.
P.S. I'll add.
Then the error appeared when the size of the recorded file exceeded the size of the installed memory. Smaller files were recorded without troubleshooting.
Pcmanfm is a truly wonderful file manager.
Out of curiosity, I installed it and clicked. They and my Konqueror are like twins, especially in the pcmanfm-qt version
