jma_sp wrote: The problem with using CD/DVD is that programs remain in older versions. By example i used Refracta to resize a partition with gparted and get a problem..... then download the latest gparted CD and it works.
Can always download a newer version of any available application by using backports, enabled by default in /etc/apt/source.list & /etc/apt/preferences. Use...
$ sudo apt-get -t jessie-backports install <package-name>
JWM is a great Wm, easy to configure once you have the hang of the .jwmrc in the home directory and the ~/.config/jwm/autostart files. Recommend backing these files up to a location so you could retrieve them if something becomes corrupt. Only saying that because of personal experience. : )
Thank you for considering STAR, CROWZ or any Devuan image / or derivative. Have downloaded and installed each and every available distro and concluded any would be a suitable daily driver. It's what Devuan IS, rather than what it's NOT in my opinion.
Your English is fine and welcome to the forum!

+1. Crowz is nice!
Been playing with JWM myself, I think a nice light 32 bit Devuan version would be great for older machines.

There are a few flavors - go for the one with jwm in the file name.
STAR has a 32 bit version that is awesome, highly recommend anyone looking for a 32bit JWM take it for a spin.

CROWZ has a few flavours in 64 bit only ATM!

Running Pale Moon as default, FrankenFox simply is unusable. Chrome is an installed alternative, but quite happy so far with Pale Moon.
Changed my CROWZ distro's from Netsurf to Midori. Great improvement over what I have witnessed in the past few months.
FF has become basically unusable, many issues and just not desirable as a browser. Being crash prone is problem number 1.
Just uploaded CROWZ with Midori changes.

X11 is great really, could be better, but it works.
Why to always want to change something that works?
With you all the way on X11, old saying "don't fix what isn't broken"!

SMPlayer works for audio and video. MPV if configured correctly is nice.
Personally use PMRP, a YAD based program by hakerdefo and misko for radio, easily configured. Link to VSIDO discussion can be found here...

Audacious for audio is awesome too!

Much anticipated release of Devuan 1.0, know everyone using Devuan is quite thrilled as I am!
Have kept a Devuan alpha install, update and occasionally changing /etc/apt files and sources.list but upgraded to the final release without an issue. Smooth sailing from the beginning, very nice indeed!
Thanks to all involved for their determination to make this Devuan systemd-free distribution a reality. Devuan is totally awesome!

Do we have a final release from Devuan?
No official announcement yet!

Didn't notice until now, good-life-Linux is sharing the Sourceforge link with Crowz in the List of Devuan Derivatives.

Not sure why FOSSuser is having wifi issues or with live session. However did find some interesting vids on YouTube featuring both Crowz and Zephyr distros along with many others listed with Devuan. The up-loader of the vids does not seem to have an issue with wifi or live session.
Maybe this could be helpful.

@greenjeans: Oxy2-ZEN is a very complete set which is always preferred with any distro. Does remind me of the LaGaDesk-BlackWhite-III and IV.
Vuudo is a great looking distro, still fiddling with it. No issues at all! : )
zephyr
^ Thank you!
@greenjeans: Like the cooler coolers of gray and black, easy on the eyes! Yes very similar taste in color schemes, the Oxy2-ZEN are a great looking set of icons. First time seeing them anywhere!
Vuudo is a very minimal distro, like the openbox layout, very fast! Nicely put together project that deserves the attention!

@FOSSuser: When you identify your network script, click on it and should then be prompted to enter pass phrase.
@FOSSuser: Running my box now on wifi, have fb, ob and jwm connected with wifi. Left clicking the connman icon should identify your network and just have to enter pass phrase.
Works quite nicely on my lappie as well.

@MiyoLinux: Thank you for your most welcomed comments regarding Crowz. Openbox. Fluxbox are my tow favorite Wm's. Beginning to really appreciate JWM, a fine Wm.
Enjoyed installing your builds, have an awesome distro yourself!

@greenjeans: Have JWM up if you are still interested in taking a spin!

@greenjeans: Moved from an area that had very poor infrastructure and services, internet provider promised at least 1mb of download and 500kb upload. That was slow when I was accustomed to 10X of that. Fact was getting only about 128kb upload and 326kb download at it's best. Fillezilla was the answer to that issue, took a while but uploads were always successful.
Live next to OU now, have incredible fiber optic to the dish and cable to the dust box, very fast and dependable. What took an hour before is less than a minute now!
Will be a few days before the work on fb and jwm is complete. But, STAR has a really awesome jwm! Will probably borrow a few configs from it. Best jwm that I've ever used and really very fond of it myself. Recommend STAR jwm very highly. Here is the link! Yes, it is Devuan! : )

@FOSSuser: Always download one to test, but yes you downloaded the first official Crowz distro! That never has happened to me either!

@golinux: You are right and will add that narrative to the Crowz description. There is a README file in which that was included. Adding Crowz as formerly Zephyr should be ok!
Thanks for the support!

Hello folks: Back into the game with a new distro name " Crowz". Uploaded Crowz ob with the 1.0 RC release for anyone who is interested.
Made a few changes during the break of re-branding!
Thanks for the support, very excited about the Devuan RC, and just in time to coincide a release with Crowz ob for now. Fluxbox and JWM will be coming soon.

@xunilog: Have encountered what you are describing earlier in my distro hopping days going back several years, however attributed it to my graphics card or mobo. Haven't had such an occurrence since a complete machine rebuild and update a couple years back. Scrambled pixels is what I observed and simply didn't further looking at the distro. The distros were not zephyr or any of which you mentioned above.
This has not occurred at anytime during the testing of my builds, difficult to find answers for something that isn't there for me to witness or remedy. My final build is well tested before uploading, then retested as a download to insure the integrity of the build. More often than not a second set of eyes is used during the final builds, this issue has never been witnessed or addressed.
Not sure if you were using a disk or USB, either way something could have been corrupt not allowing a good graphics rendering. Configs for all distributions vary, certainly pertains to different DE's and Wm's. The base for all Devuan distos should be relatively the same depending on their package list. There was a period where Xorg drivers were still being pulled from Debian, not sure if this could been the issue.
Wish I could help you more, if I run into the your described issue will let you know what I did to fix it.
Cheers

@golinux: That new name is coming soon with a release of new distributions!
