@quickfur it might be better though. I think it is probably lighter on resources for sure. I recall JWM is supposedly written some what in lisp.
Nevermind, its written in C, interesting.
@golinux just to respond to your comment to mine, that does seem random. Although so does the second comment to be honest.
@quickfur honestly, don't think Google has better search results than DuckDuckgo. Maybe the meta search engine searx, it might, I don't know.
The more time passes, the more I wonder if they haven't made it worse. I hear they filter search results based on their own motives and they block access to older pages after a certain point. Not sure how many search engines do that, but duckduckgo, has always had similar if not better results.
You can do what you please of course, but like golinux said, they are a destructive evil corporation that doesn't need to be fed. I lost some faith in humanity when I saw 70% of the world uses Google as their search engine.
Like the world isn't feeding their data towers enough... and by doing so, hurting the environment and I think every time that is done, people's brains over time deteriorate due to the climate.
But yeah, on a positive note, very entertaining gibberish I will say.
@golinux (again) Btw, when I said 2nd comment, I meant on the link you mentioned, ie, soren's comment.
@golinux now I am curious where he made this post, if its in deuvan only threads, then I probably will laugh.
lol.
@quickfur
Where in the hell did this originally get posted? I want to have a good laugh and I bet this will provide one.
Actually, I re-read your posts and it already sounds like verbal diarrhoea as it is.
Well played if you like gibberish.
I laughed a bunch
Yeah, I am gonna go on a limb and say that, ratpoison must take patience to learn to use, given that a mouse isn't used.
Btw, I don't use a touchpad or mouse, I use a trackpoint
Which does function like a mouse.
Speaking of which, I wonder when auto-cpufreq will be in stable for debian/devuan.
auto-cpufreq is very efficient supposedly and yet, it doesn't appear to be in stable.
I checked further and it isn't even in debian period...
so weird.
I see, that sounds about right.
I like JWM because of the desktop look and still having the blessings of i3-wm where key bindings exist, etc...
Also, the ability to start up applications when you log into JWM. i3-wm can do that as well ofc.
Long story short, these things are really awesome features to me.
When I think of "modern" I think of LXQT, LXDE, MATE AND EVEN MORE SO, Cinnamon, GNOME, KDE, BUDGIE, UNITY, UKUI and other similar or more bloated desktops.
Whoever thought the tablet look was a good idea, has rocks in their head more than brains. Just sayin...
Okay, but JWM has very low cpu usage and memory usage.
But that being said, there might be others that use less memory, not sure about cpu though.
@alexkemp I doubt that was what was meant by "adult"
But responsible adult might be better than just adult?
Because responsibility implies mature behaviour and not all people are mature.
Golinux would agree with this a billion fold, I am sure as he already said something on this forum.
@golinux feel free to correct me tho if there is anything off kilter.
Sounds good to me.
@trinitdad lol is that one old.
@quickfur I actually do have some keybindings set up also at the same time. So... I am doing both!
Would not making an unused partition with 30MB cause it not to boot properly? meaning no display?
Seems that was the problem, I only used 99% of the disk and I had no issues from there.
@quickfur I only use JWM its both very fast and low memory usage. I feel like it uses the least cpu power of any of the wm or de.
Btw, the difference between JWM and other window managers? It has a nice bottom panel even without jwmkit, but with jwmkit, its 100x better still.
It really don't use much cpu power or ram as said even then.
@The_Amnesiac_Philosopher yep precisely.
He prepared a trollfest for his heirs for when he died.
Before the internet, that might as well have been considered trolling. xD
@golinux probably it seemed vague to him.
Just clarify by saying everyone is to act like an adult if needed. Just a suggestion.
Up to you tho!
Yeah, I left windows because 8 was:
A: ugly
B: When I got the 8.1 upgrade, I became heavily suspicious due to the ram increase by 3X!
C: Someone I knew said that they were in an ibm meeting and asked if windows had a backdoor and everyone was silent!
That's what drove me to linux.
Although, if I had a choice between redhat's garbage and proprietary software pure and simple.
I would probably be hard pressed, but still pick the redhat method. Thankfully, I don't need to though!
Good lord is that a relief.
Although linux is starting to get ugly with their desktop environments.
Only one I would ever tolerate now is Lumina Desktop.
The others are just too bloated. Even LXDE or XFCE4. I realize now they were not my style.
Hyperbola, Devuan, OpenBSD are my primary options as of now for operating systems. Unless I am desperate in which case, I will use Trisquel as a last resort.
That would be the systemd distro I trust most. But thats such a low bar to clear for me.
There is one time organic is not preferred, something like maple syrup that comes out of a wild tree, or if its seafood, or meat (assuming you know someone trustworthy to give you the wild meat!)
@The-Amnesiac-Philospher Okay dude, that one is my favourite so far...
man... that one makes me smile.
I haven't felt such amusement since seeing the ending of A Night of Fright is No Delight.
Hint: The person leaves a will for his heirs, but even after death the heirs get trolled hard by that same will.
@golinux yeah, kind of bizzaro right? Although I was much more unstable during the trump years lol. I also... didn't know I had a massive ego problem then either. If I don't know a problem, then I can't address it. I kept putting bandages on my problems when in reality sadly, I needed to just have the root (pride) uprooted entirely. Not that it won't try to grow again. Its an endless problem... well mostly anyhow. It gets easier to uproot each next time I think though
I am embarrassed how long it took me to see this problem though lol.
@JWM-Kit
That's definitely what they want I think though anyhow.
That looks like it was the intention of the Code of conduct.
@golinux despite by failings and rants sometimes, I am smart enough to agree with you there.
There are many examples even outside of politics, but I will be vague otherwise it becomes a rant to you.
Yeah, maturity is not a number.
Btw, didn't see this new code of conduct whenever you made it. I apologize.
Edit: I seem to have not noticed this happened in 2016. I wish I had looked, must have happened when I wasn't looking.
@golinux sorry then, it is a habit of mine. Feel free to delete that part or all of the post if you want.
Btw, I probably should re-read the code of conduct, I sometimes forget... as I emailed you.
@quickfur Europe has the best structure towards copyright of the ones that enforce it. Now I will shut up too, feel free to pm me if you wish to talk more. lol
This post I agree with completely for sure. Windows is indeed a crap. Pity he cannot respond here anymore. I don't know if he is perma or not.
Let me see... if I have a choice between xorg and wayland, which would I choose...
Preferably, neither and xenocara. Otherwise, xorg.
wayland shouldn't be adopted by nearly every other distro in the world until it is just as stable even if it is more secure.
At least by stable distros anyways, yet here we are.
@quickfur Nvm, I may have said too much thus, I am editing.
