Yikes! This thing apparently hard codes colors and doesn't even honor the dark mode of Adwaita-dark, which even the cultural vandals behind Stop Theming My App would respect. I sure hope the folks behind this consider it an unfinished work-in-progress and not something ready to be compared favorably with HexChat yet.

Creating an IRC client specifically for GTK3 is a great idea for one reason and one reason only, which is that a lot of GTK3 themes these days don't provide an equivalent GTK2 look. But if you aren't even going to work properly with the majority of GTK3 themes, what even is the point?
(Someone might say "Working when GTK2 is removed from Debian", but deliberately breaking GTK2 is silly and moreso now that gtk2-ng exists.)

Thanks for the heads up!

ZoiteChat now in debian testing

Actually, it's better than that. It's already in backports too, so if you have backports enabled you can already apt install it on Excalibur today!

But I unfortunately must rate it's usage of GTK3 as somewhat broken (at least as of the last version Debian accepted)
- The menubar doesn't extend the full width of the window, resulting in a funny color change in themes like Devuan's default
- Menus somehow aren't being drawn the same as in normal applications like Mousepad either resulting (again on Devuan's default theme) in menus that lack outer borders and have overly-shaded separators.

We need more hands on deck capable of dealing with the transformation of packages from Debian to Devuan

"Devuan" is not an organisation of "managers" waiting for "fly-by juniors" to give tasks to

As of today, if I were to say, "I have a few hours to spare, let's see if I can help transform a package from Debian to Devuan" I couldn't name a single one in need of attention because there isn't written wishlist anywhere. Hopefully that problem will solve itself now that I'm the DNG mailing list and the IRC and checking for new threads here more often, but what I'm saying is feel free to talk about your wishlists in front of me. I'm not looking to be given an assignment by a "Devuan manager", but I'm actively keeping my ears open for things that need doing.

IMO a wiki is a low priority project for Devuan. We need more hands on deck capable of dealing with the transformation of packages from Debian to Devuan

I am a man prone to flit between many hobbies, but right now I'm building something based on Devuan and so interested in contributing back to the community a little, so feel free to shove problems in front of my nose in case I bite down and fix something. smile

Since Devuan is mostly just Debian without SystemD, most things don't need separate documentation, and a lot of what you read in sources like the Debian Administrator's Handbook https://debian-handbook.info/browse/stable/ should still apply.

If anyone has actually created a centralized guidebook to "Administering Systems Without SystemD", I'm too green to know about it myself, and would like to see it. Devuan supports multiple init systems, so some things aren't going to be the same even across all Devuan systems.
