If samba is not installed ... [solved]

Hi, i was having some problems with VLC so i went to synaptic in order to see all that is related to it and i found that a plugin-samba was installed for VLC, i uninstalled this plugin and now there are no more problems.

When i installed the system i didn't installed samba neither anything related to the printer ...

Then now i checked at synaptic again for samba, nothing is there except this package: samba-libs 2:4.5.12+dfsg 22.7 samba core libraries.

If samba is not installed ...

Do i have to remove this package too?.

Re: If samba is not installed ... [solved]

You generally should not have to remove packages simply because they are not needed. I admit there is a strong urge to do it for minimalism obsessed people like me but usually it's completely harmless to have a couple superfluous packages. If they are really superfluous and not dependencies - even if useless - of something you want to keep is also another question (you would see it when you try to remove them and your package manager wants to remove some seemingly unrelated packages too).
