Superuser authentication failure in graphical mode

Greetings community!

I am using the testing version, Freia, and I have noticed that every time I enter an application that requires superuser privileges, such as synaptic or gparted, authentication fails. As soon as I enter, the error window opens in a loop and closes. I can't even type anything. Luckily, I can log in as superuser in the terminal. I checked the disk space and there is enough space on all partitions. I have no idea what the problem is.

I would appreciate some help.

That's why it's called testing roll Don't use testing if you can't fix it.

Re: Superuser authentication failure in graphical mode

Hi,
I'm on freia too and had authentication errors until yesterday. The error message was - in my case:
"Incorrect permission on/usr/lib/policykit-1/polkit-agent-helper-1(need to setuid root)"

The solution from
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1115061 … ent-helper
= sudo chmod 5755 /usr/lib/policykit-1/polkit-agent-helper-1 fixed it.

Edit:
There is a discussion respective other permissions to apply - I do not know such stuff.
