[SOLVED] Whither Excalibur?

So is Excalibur like a released/finished thing yet?  I see some talk about it here but haven't seen an announcement and the web site hardly mentions it - and then only as "testing".

Re: [SOLVED] Whither Excalibur?

it is testing, usually devuan lags behind debian releases anywhere from weeks to months testing that stuff works and sometimes having to rebuild programs or even fork them to remove the hard dependencies on systemd, it is a "is ready when is ready" type of situation.

Re: [SOLVED] Whither Excalibur?

I think the first sign that Excalibur is close would be when beta.devuan.org is updated. smile
That said, I'd rather they don't rush things. Who knows how much more garbage has been added to Trixie?
Apparently, in Trixie, apt won't let you remove systemd during installation unless you tell it to --allow-remove-essential so I guess it's a step backwards towards their "Systemd but we support exploring alternatives" vote in 2019.

Hello:

"Systemd but we support exploring alternatives"

Nothing but a blatant lie.

Re: [SOLVED] Whither Excalibur?

Or maybe a better interpretation would be: "systemd, for anything else - you're on your own!" wink
If we are being serious though, I'm not sure if this issue is due to Debian's stance or if it's an APT issue.
I might be naive to assume the latter.

Re: [SOLVED] Whither Excalibur?

Thanks all.  I guess I forgot how things went with Daedalus.  I've been using Excalibur for about 4 months so I'm not waiting for anything.
