[SOLVED] Aqemu not identifying Logitech Webcam in VM (Host device)

Hi,

Sadly this last week I had to install Teams on Devuan as it did not pick up the Webcam as I am currently undertaking Mandarin Class via Teams. This meant quickly having to install Teams on Devuan which I didn't want to do as my experience is that it takes over the machine (even after removing it from startup applications!) Aaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhh!

lsusb in Konsole on the Host picks up the id and correctly identifies the device:

swarfendor437@devuan:~$ lsusb
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 046a:0114 Cherry GmbH
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046d:09a4 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam E 3500
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0723 Genesys Logic, Inc. GL827L SD/MMC/MS Flash Card Reader
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

In Qemu Under USB connections I have:

Connecting USB host device
     Manufacturer:       Product:             bus:  addr:  path:
1   Generic                 USB Storage     1       2        13
2   Unknown               Unknown           3       2        1     (If I select it it indicates it is the webcam - Vendor Id: 046d Product id: 09a4
3    Cherry GmbH       Cherry Wireless 5       2        3                                                                      bus.addr.path: 3.3.1 speed: 480
4   Linux 4.19.0-12    xHCI Controller   1       1        0
5   ditto                       ditto                    2       1        0
6   ditto                       ditto                    3       1        0
7   ditto                       ditto                    4       1        0
8   ditto                       ditto                    5       1        0
9   ditto                       ditto                    6       1        0

I am aware that when using VB I had to change the USB settings toi 1.1 (shows how old the webcam is). Would I be better off upgrading the webcam  to a newer model?

Thanks. smile

Just thought I would share with you that I solved this by finding the 'add hardware' section in 'Details'! smile
