Time for a welcome break while we digest that.

#127 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2025-08-20 16:39:50

Indeed . . . Another version of "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" and we never seem to lean . . .

#128 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2025-08-20 16:17:23

It depends more on the bias of the "thinker" as all sentient beings are deluded/

#129 Re: Off-topic » I have some news for everyone... » 2025-08-20 15:44:34

Did you forget to take your meds, zapper?

#130 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2025-08-20 15:42:56

And zapper continues the theater of the absurd . . .

#132 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2025-08-20 13:46:26

igorzwx . . . @Drama has no place in my thinking. I am merely an observer and will not shed a tear for our self-inflicted extinction.

#133 Re: Other Issues » Theming for Devuan excalibur » 2025-08-18 15:30:08

@prospero . . . Thanks for your insight. Made my day!

@ greenjeans . . . There are detailed instructions for theming Xfce HERE. Maybe that will give you some hints of what might need to be done on Mate if you want to play with it. smile Don't panic!  Most of it it for theming ALL parts of a new release, not just the default desktop . . . unless you want to be a hero . . .

#134 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2025-08-18 14:02:10

Seems like the joke is on humanity!

#135 Re: Devuan Derivatives » GNUinOS, search to begin with the beginning! » 2025-08-17 21:40:12

You completely missed the point of my comment . . .

#136 Re: Devuan Derivatives » GNUinOS, search to begin with the beginning! » 2025-08-17 21:34:02

You won't find "Deadalus" anywhere in Devuan. It is quite alive!! wink

#137 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2025-08-17 16:32:22

They are stupid and ugly and for lower life forms . . .

#138 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2025-08-16 23:22:48

What's with all the images? Looks like the sites I come here to avoid . . . ;  Please try words and wit.

#139 Re: Other Issues » Theming for Devuan excalibur » 2025-08-16 02:54:05

@zapper . . . Thanks. The colors are subtle and really pop out when it is full screen

#140 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2025-08-16 02:33:03

I have and was hoping everyone else had too.   sad  I just had to have the last word . . .

#141 Re: Other Issues » Theming for Devuan excalibur » 2025-08-16 02:27:06

Hey greenjeans . . . I have an idea that you may or may not like. I created a desktop background graphic for excalibur. It is an anti-war statement named "deathmetal". It combines the dark metal of a sword (I looked at a LOT of them) with a tinge of "gangrene" which is a possible result to the victim. Feel free to use it if you like. If it doesn't suit you, that's fine too.

I tried to get someone to further develp that theme but no takers.

#142 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » excalibur dist-upgrade? » 2025-08-15 15:26:32

I am going to post another link here because it reminds me of the Trixie release notes. I have skimmed that long and detailed oeuvre but not gotten too deep. It seems that Wayland is just more fruit from the poisoned tree:

Perhaps it is time to put in more effort to ensure that xorg remains a viable option. Time to step up, folks!

#143 Re: Freedom Hacks » Patching on the fly with "stream editor" (fftrate ALSA plugin) » 2025-08-13 03:24:16

And in you, igorzwx, a symptom of delusional arrogance on steroids. wink

#144 Re: Off-topic » Is systemd still bad in 2025? » 2025-08-12 21:42:24

Wrong person to ask. I am just the messenger sharing an image . . .

And if you "hate to be that guy", just don't be that guy.  It's as simple as that!  smile

#145 Re: Off-topic » Is systemd still bad in 2025? » 2025-08-11 00:24:34

That graphic also keeps morphing as new systemd dependencies are introduced. Something like the green slime . . . LOL!

#146 Re: Off-topic » Is systemd still bad in 2025? » 2025-08-11 00:14:05

Have a look at this graphic hairball and decide for yourself.

#147 Re: Devuan Derivatives » Small installations with Refracta Linux » 2025-08-09 21:29:01

@32bits . . . Thank you for your interesting thoughts and also the "French" refresher course (which I could still read).

You asked about why/how we have chosen our release names. One of our first developers was an astronomer. So we decided to pick our release names from the list of Minor Planet Names. The list is very long so we knew we wouldn't run out of options! There are names there from many cultures but it is true that we have gravitated to more European and Latin-based choices and that has become part of our identity . . .

#148 Re: Devuan Derivatives » Small installations with Refracta Linux » 2025-08-09 00:09:07

aitor . . . is Escalibur your "Basque" version?

#150 Re: DIY » New Project, a simple music player. And now a video player!! » 2025-08-07 00:43:40

@zapper . . . I suggest you get to know greenjeans and his motivations better. He is doing it not only for the challenge but for people in his local community and I accept your apology on his behalf!
