Unless I have a virtual machine of it, which isn't a bad idea.
This. The installer itself needs to be tested. Devuan-specific bugs to be reported as outlined in the link posted above.
Ah, I didn't know debian EVEN had a release schedule...
Thought it was like, released when we say its ready.
They don't have a fixed schedule. They have a "when it's ready" schedule as does Devuan.
Good to know, also, I thought chimaera's images were still in alpha...
They are.
I probably should, but sometimes I am way too lazy for it...
That being said, I assume you just report issues that you see...? Could do that, beyond that, I don't know.
Confirmation that it works or if not what the problem is would be helpful and appreciated.
Today i learned about this very cool link.
Steve's Old Computer Museum!
Early personal computers were nothing like present day computers - they had personality!
Each was different and more exciting than the previous, with new features and capabilities.
old computer This website is dedicated to the preservation and display of these vintage computer systems.
To the left you can "click" and explore old computers from the dawn of time!
For fun, view 150 old computers all at the same time to appreciate how diverse and interesting they are
Well, here is some Devuan trivia that's not so trivial. The Devuan Board of Trustees has 3 members who are involved with computer preservation!
Gabriele “Asbesto” Zaverio (MusIF) :: director, “Museo dell’Informatica Funzionante” computer museum
Emiliano Russo (MIAI) :: director, “Museo Interattivo di Archeologia Informatica” computer museum
Stefania Calcagno (ESOCOP) :: president, European Society for Computer Preservation
You can find that info on our website at https://www.devuan.org/os/team
Hmm, its almost in testing right for Devuan?
We have been in Chimaera "testing" since Beowulf was released last year..
I am curious though when Debian will release its newest version.
As stated above, Bullseye ETA is mid-July.
It does have an effect on your distro right?
Yes, we can't release Chimaera until Bullseye goes stable. There are Chimaera installation isos available for testing if you'd like to contribute to Devuan..

That would make sense. I wonder when Chimaera will be out.
Someone at the last meet said mid-July, maybe the 12th? So I figured I'd better get it done sooner rather than later. Next up pkginfo and bugs.

Putting together the last bits of Chimaera. pkginfo and bugs will follow the same styling.

I suggest you start a new thread for you audio issue.
@JSM . . . Congratulations on launching your website at linuc.mipropia.com. Since this thread seems to be reaching its end, I am going to lock this topic and suggest that those who are interested in helping you develop the LinuC platform continue the discussion at your project forum on that site.
Wishing you all the best . . .
Be happy!

I suppose I am sometimes full of myself, my bad...
Though I still think ideology is impossible to avoid, good or bad?
@ zapper . . .That was just a general observation about this thread and not directed at you.

Thank you for contributing a quasi-technical post.
How noble of you to keep private private but not so noble of you to use it as an opportunity to denigrate events experienced in space and time as "opinion". I doubt you would equate the apple falling on Newton's head as "opinion". But your manipulations don't fly here. Everyone can see them (if anyone is still reading this useless thread).
The motivations that drive actions are even more important than the actions themselves. That you would consider that I could pen "Open Letter to the Linux World" says more about you than me because I would never use such language, make those grammatical errors or participate in such a subterfuge to the Linux community.
Finally there is a difference between license and freedom. License implies permission to follow whatever whim enters the mind. This is what children do. True freedom is quite different. It is the ability to understand the motivations preceding an action and to choose to act in a way that is beneficial to oneself and others. It requires self-examination and self-control. Sadly, many adults never acquire that skill which is the main reason our species is so self-destructive. It will, in the end, be our undoing.

Thanks Altoid. A BIOS issue is never good news. It had crossed my mind but the sheer terror of having to flash a board dismissed the possibility. For now, I'm going to live with it on the old board. If it is also a problem on the newer board I will reassess my options.
You are like a 6 year old child pushing limits. And then when the hammer drops you whine and think you are a victim. My advice would be to just stop arguing. It serves no purpose but to illustrate your willfulness and depth of misunderstanding. You are very clever at twisting things to support your ideology but please don't embarrass yourself further because you really have no idea what you are talking about.
Here . . . I'll stop it for you . . .
I am finally starting to move off of jessie. (You can pick up your jaw now . . . )
First step was to install ascii 2.1 i386 on my other machine an older gigabyte board and 1TB WD black (that previously contained Ubuntu Hardy LOL!) in an Antec case. When I start this project I hadn't booted this machine for 800 and some days. I am going to customize ascii there, then take a snapshot to install on my primary machine.
On both machines, I have always been able to come out of suspend with Ctrl or any other key but now I have to press the power button to wake up the Antec. That's annoying because it sticks and I have to fiddle with it to get it to work.
I did switch out the keyboard to a generic Logitech USB a month or two ago and it still worked OK with squeeze. It is identical to the keyboard connected to the other computer that works just fine to wake up from suspend.
Am I missing a pkg for this functionality? Or is it an obscure setting. I did go through all the Xfce Power Management options.
Before you ask why ascii . . . because I want to spend some time with it before moving on . . .
Thanks,
golinux
AFAIK, security patches come directly from Debian. Devuan does not touch 99% of Debian packages.
@JSM . . . In case you're wondering, the decision was not unilateral. Feel free to contribute to the technical areas of this forum but please share your "truth" where it is relevant and can be better appreciated.
Your post was in no way a response to what zapper wrote.
[edit] I was looking at the wrong post.
I'm beginning to wish this forum had an ignore option . . .
JSM . . . please take it elsewhere. This is basically a technical forum with this space to socialize. Please don't pollute it with the insanity that is invading all corners of the web. Especially since you are contributing nothing of value to Devuan.
Please familiarize yourself with this forum's (almost) No Code of Conduct
Your inappropriate post has been moved to Admin.
Hahaha! So much for my reading skills. I'll go stand in a corner now . . .
Country Codes are deprecated and don't work properly. Use http://deb.devuan.org instead. That should fix it.
@guru . . . network -manager IS available in Devuan.

Follow upstream updates on Debian. Here are two that I found with a simple search. You can join their mailing lists for the ones that suit you:
https://www.debian.org/News/2021/
https://wiki.debian.org/StableUpdates
All the updated Debian packages will be pulled in through the Devuan repos.
It is in the repos and not on the banned packages list. So the issue lies elsewhere. Hopefully someone will have the answer.
That's too bad.
Yes and no. It just is what it is. If that's not OK, you're in trouble . . .
OK . . .
FTR . . . I don't have a grudge against Windows users. Neither do I want to rescue them from their own stupidity. That is a fool's endeavor.
