This also dense reading:

The Real Anthony Fauci

In the 70s and early 80s, Sugar Blues and Confessions of a Medical Heretic and others exposed the manipulations that have gotten us to exactly where we are so no surprise to me that we are in this mess.

I stand corrected.  The Devuan elves have been busier than I imagined!

But the major problem is not that: if I really understand https://www.devuan.org/get-devuan there is no DVD for devuan daedalus i686 :-) !

How to use that, what is not available?

The full list of Daedalus options is not available because it has not been released yet!  It is not "stable" but "testing".  That is where bugs are discovered and worked out by Devuan users like you.

^ Well it's certainly one of my coping mechanisms, along with trolling. How do you manage?

In a few cryptic words . . . by not following the rabbit down the rabbit hole.

Data impinges on the eye, ear, nose, tongue, physical body and mind. Where we take it from there is a choice.  We can either note the event and let it go or follow the rabbit into a Proustian novella of mental spaghetti.

With practice, the reaction to these events swings with less force and stays closer to a place of neutral observation.  Like frames in a video the discreet events go by but the mind does not latch on to and follow them down the rabbit hole so over time there is less and less to cope with.

This is a taste of freedom from impulses that bring us so much grief.

Newton's laws have already been shown to be nothing more than a vague approximation, as has Einstein's theory of General Relativity.

FWIW I find Loop Quantum Gravity to be the most appealing of the current theories on offer but we don't have enough data to make any firm statements. Yet.

The human mind has infinite ways to entertain itself with excursions like these while ignoring the reality of the present and thus remaining mired in ignorance.  wink

For me it's a matter of it being part of the fabric of society, as is our wrongly dated calendar.

There are many possible "fabrics" from which to choose.  Why does it always have to be the same.  All yearly observances for whatever reason are boring and annoying and . . . a great way to control the narrative.  "Columbus Day" is embarrassing for any number of reasons . . .

Around Christmas each year I get time off from work, so I spend it with my family like most others. I don't mind adhering to incorrect traditional dates and calendars as long as the trains still arrive on time - no harm no foul.

There are many holidays that provide a respite from the day to day but only one that beats us over the head with nonsense for months in advance.

@MiyoLinux . . . Are you suggesting that the movement of planet earth around the sun is a belief?  Maybe the earth is flat too?! LOL!!

Well, perhaps a flat earth belief is going to make it into your neighborhood school . . . You never know these days . . .

Thanks for a definition/description of the solstice.  I assumed everyone would already know that but maybe I expect too much of humans in 2021 (which is also an arbitrary numerical designation) . . .

Yes . . . humans live in a fantasy world. They rarely see things are they are but rather as they imagine them to be.  The source of all our suffering . . .

The "problem" is not that your installation hit a wall.  The problem is not reading the Release Notes BEFORE you start to install.

#1247 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » Making Devuan more secure. » 2021-12-05 00:42:06

GlennW . . . the isos at the above link are in the "unstable" directory.  IIUC, they are not part of the main distribution offered at files.devuan.org and the mini.iso is even more minimal than the netinstall iso.  Maybe have a look and correct me if I'm wrong . . .

Devuan claims to be a minimalist base GNU+Linux distribution . . .

That, of course, depends on the definition of "minimalist".  That being said, there other Devuan installation media at https://pkgmaster.devuan.org/devuan/dis … s/netboot/.  I have installed from the mini.iso.  I can't remember the details but it was pretty "bare".  Anyway, you might poke around there to see if any of those options suit your criterion better.

#1250 Re: Other Issues » [SOLVED] Need to reset root password » 2021-11-29 20:48:34

There is a way to do it from the boot screen by editing the kernel line.  bluesdog has a howto over on the debian forum that I have used but it may be outdated by now.  I would copy some notes that I have here but don't trust their accuracy because I haven't had to do it in years . . .
