So....code please for your children who use Miyolinux themes exclusively.
Oy...
Not sure how you'll like the new MiyoLinux Light.
I made the menu separators flat. Still, if you don't mind the little bit of extra work, just adjust it to your needs. You should only need to change two or three things...just compare the "Menu" section of the old themerc with the new one. All of the extra things that I added have to do with window buttons. Just keep in mind that I changed the background colors. The MiyoLinux Dark and MiyoLinux Mix are still "basically" the same as before.
Edited: Oh...almost forgot...I also made the "hover" and "pressed" colors a little more vibrant...
Here's the link...it's the "Miyo-Ascii-Themes.zip".
Well, I fixed my issue which was that I had tweaked the brightness/saturation settings for a desktop gradient. Once I reset them to default, everything returned to normal. Hope your solution is that easy. The hard part is remembering . . .
Well, mine wasn't that simple, but it was an easy fix...just had to change all of the background color codes to match.
From the Adwaita GTK2 gtkrc file...
# This is the GTK+ 2 version of Adwaita. It's whole purpose is to look as the
GTK+ 3 version as much as possible until GTK+ 2 dies completely.
Meanwhile...
Miyolinux takes a long-deep breath and contemplates the meaning of life while stewing over GTK3ism's impact upon sanity...

OT . . . I can really relate to this. Trying to theme ascii and there is a significant color variation between the image in the viewer/editor and as the desktop wallpaper even on jessie. I have no idea what's going on . . .
Whew...so it's not just me...
Good grief...
Been spending the whole morning revamping my MiyoLinux themes and my Adwaita Revisted themes. I just noticed a very slight color variation in the Adwaita theme's color in Ascii. Strange. The Adwaita Dark theme was still the same.
Plus, it's been so long since I worked on the MiyoLinux themes, I hadn't noticed that they were missing several options. Got that fixed too.
Coding...
LOL!
Why does it sound scary to me just reading your reviews?
There's a really neat browser that I've heard of, and I think you might like it. It's called Google Chrome. It's stinkin' AWESOME!
However...
If that one doesn't suit your taste, there's another great browser that I've heard of called Edge. From what I hear, it's even more AWESOMER!!! You'd have to figure out how to compile it on Linux though.
Wow! I have about 4...maybe 5 sites that I visit regularly. Every now and then, I go all whack-a-doodle and search to see if there's any new Openbox stuff of interest. I guess I'm just boring. LOL!
And I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you . . . FF without the addons I've been using for years is a non-starter regardless of how fast it supposedly is. My old FF is pretty snappy so had no complaints about speed before. The biggest annoyance I have is that it's a memory hog and needs to be reloaded regularly.
So you're the one who owns that bridge! I would offer you a 5-spot for it, but I don't want it.
I don't know golinux...I'm not much of an internet surfer, so I can only say what I personally experience. I've never had a problem with the speed of Firefox before, and the only add-ons I use are uBlock-Origin and Privacy Badger.
All that I know is based on my internet habits, the new Firefox Quantum is definitely much faster...but that doesn't really matter to me. I just thought it might be of interest to others...whether good or bad.
I know there's not much "love" for Firefox lately, but I have to say...
...this latest Firefox Quantum is blazing fast.
Version 57.0, first offered to Release channel users on November 14, 2017
Brace yourself for an all-new Firefox. It’s fast. Really fast. It’s over twice as fast as Firefox from 6 months ago, built on a completely overhauled core engine with brand new technology from our advanced research group, and graced with a clean, modern interface. Today is the first of several releases we’re calling Firefox Quantum, all designed to get to the things you love and the stuff you need faster than ever before. Experience the difference on desktops running Windows, macOS, and Linux; on Android, speed improvements are landing as well, and both Android and iOS have a new look and feel. To learn more about Firefox Quantum, visit the Mozilla Blog.
Making Firefox look, feel and perform faster was no small feat. Employees and volunteers from around the world worked in record time to create the best Firefox yet. We'd like to extend a special thank you to all of the new Mozillians who contributed to this release of Firefox!
TwistedFate, if after performing the dist-upgrade, you are met with errors regarding dependencies, try running...
apt-get -f install
Then run dist-upgrade again.
If met with dependency errors again, repeat the -f install again, followed by another dist-upgrade. Repeat the process until you no longer receive dependency errors.
Well, my wife's computer went on the fritz again today. Booted up with a fsck error....corrupted file system...
Not sure how it happened, or why it happened. However, I learned that MiyoLinux can be used as a rescue disk.
Popped in the Live version of Miyo, opened the terminal, became root, and was able to fix it with
fsck -f /dev/sda2
Had to do it twice for some reason.
I have all of my "Miyo Tools" converted over to GUIs now. They work great.
(golinux runs silent and deep . . .)
...but wouldn't you just love to have something like "Ride of the Valkyries" play when your desktop loads?
...or "Flight of the Bumblebee"?
Golinux is going to scream at us when she wakes up, but what the heck, it only takes 30" to split a topic into a new one.
What if in openbox-autostart you put some plain player and the name of the intro file? As the last piece with something like sleep 8 .... &&
I'd like to hear Shadow Play on Miyo and Jimmy Dawkins or Magic Sam on vuu-doMy music is like wine. Old!
I like one piece maple necks myself
Figured it out.
No extra player needed; it's done with alsa.
Now when my desktop starts, I'm greeted with music.
I used to get a kick out of people saying, "Hey Dan, I heard that you can play guitar?!?!?"
I'd pick it up, and "attempt" to play Pop Goes the Weasel on one string...messing it up on purpose. Then I'd apologize, and "try" to play it again...messing it up on purpose. To see the looks on people's faces...LOLOLOL!
Then I'd say something like..."Aw good grief!"...and actually start playing some classical piece. LOLOLOL!
The looks were priceless!
Ahhh...but those days are gone...

The best guitar I ever owned was a hand-crafted classical Takamine...
But Wicd is interesting too.
and a bit of guitar sliding.
As an ex-rocker, rock band member, and guitar player...this is what I envision as Miyo guitar sliding...
PS What I liked out of the whole experience with redcore was the music while entering the desktop (hint hint hint).
L OOO L !!
L O O L !!
L O O L !!
L O O L
LLLLLL OOO LLLLLL !!
That music intro is stinkin' awesome! I've tried to figure it out to no avail...as yet.
Maybe we should make this a dedicated yad thread for tutorials and script examples? Yad is crazy, I think that guy is out to take over the world, it does just about anything you could imagine now...
I think that's a great idea! I've already modified my Panel Switcher, and now I'm working on my Touchpad Controls. I saw an Online Radio that someone had made with Yad.
I'm not much into coding, but Yad makes me want to stinkin' code. LOLOLOL!
Has it ever crossed your minds (Vuu-Yo & Mi-Do) to collaborate and just produce one distribution with 2 variations (Light & Extra) ?
Some of us fans are getting a bit dizzy.
I kept hoping greenjeans would address this. LOLOL!
Personally, I see Vuu-do and Miyo as two separate entities.
Greenjeans and I have different styles and end-goals...
I put out an .iso periodically; greenjeans updates his .isos more often.
I try to offer users a minimal system; greenjeans offers users an even more minimal system.
I try to offer a "somewhat" modern look; greenjeans keeps his UI more classic.
I like to see if I can stretch the bounds of Openbox just a little at a time; greenjeans likes to improve Openbox's classic experience.
I recently ventured into LXQt; greenjeans offers Mate.
I think both Vuu-do and Miyo probably appeal to different types of people...and that's a good thing. The end result is that people are using Devuan.
I personally bow to greenjean's ingenuity. He has done things that I would never have thought of or considered. Could we collaborate? Sure. Should we collaborate? I think there are different people who are looking for what both of us try to offer, so with that in mind, I think a Vuu-yo or Mi-do would be more of a hindrance to the end-users rather than a help.
My friend greenjeans and I aren't in competition with each other. If he gets 1,000 downloads a week, and I get 1...that's a win for Devuan.
More importantly, there is Crowz, Nelum, and Star...who offer Devuan Openbox distros...all of whom I'm in awe of (and I mean that).
Okay. I was quite busy yesterday...sorry for the delay.
Here is the code (as it made the GUI appear in the video) in all of its simplistic glory. I'm still going to see if I want to change anything around, so this may not be the finished product.

Are you gonna show us your script? How do you get the window to stay up when you make a selection?
I'm almost too embarrassed to show it, because of how simple it is.
I'll post it tomorrow...it's on my build computer, and I accidentally left it at work...forgot to copy the script to a USB too.
If I get the time today, I'll write it again and post it. It stays open, because I didn't use any of the...

else the other
...stuff. I wanted it to stay open so a user could go try them all without having to open it again.

Reminds me, I need to download your latest and check out all the cool stuff i'm gonna steal for next version of Vuu-do
You can't...'cause I stole stuff from you. LOLOL!

Well i'm a little late to the party, but have some good links somewhere, here's one to the main discussion about yad on the Puppy linux forum:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=97458
There's a blog called the Linux Rain that has several good tuts, this is a great one for just starting out:
http://www.thelinuxrain.com/articles/mu … y-with-yad
One thing to remember when experimenting with Yad on your machine, if you are trying commands in terminal, most terminals including LXterminal are bash terminals, while Devuan runs on dash, so things won't always work the same, bashisms will cause a /bin/sh script to fail or not work right, and there are some things that will work perfectly as a dash script but won't work right in terminal.
Those two are the ones that were most helpful. The Linux Rain one was the one that didn't have the commands inside of quotation marks; however, those commands worked for what he was using them for. When I tried to adapt them to my panel switcher, it wouldn't work without the commands being inside of quotation marks... stinkin' coding!!!
Thanks greenjeans!
Okay! I've finally got everything...AND I MEAN EVERYTHING...figured out!
Whenever I have something that I wonder about or need help with, and after I've depleted all of my searching, trying, and experimenting...I finally ask for help. One thing I've noticed...when I ask for help, and fsmithred offers advice, it causes me to dig deeper than I had before. Strange thing is, his help usually makes me realize how close I was to begin with. LOL! Now to fine-tune some things and work on the other "Miyo Accessories"...
Here's a quick look at the MiyoLinux Panel Switcher GUI as it stands now...
...and while we're on the subject...hey fsr, any advice on how I can acquire a million dollars? LOLOLOLOL!
