#2 Re: Other Issues » USB tethering? » 2020-02-23 19:42:27

Thank you, thank you!

I have now fumbled around, back and forth, up and down for some time trying to get tethering going.
Then I thought I might find teh solutions here ...
Finally it works!

One of my PCs is without wireless card and somethimes I don't have wired network/am too lazy to set up several hubs and stretch cables between them to the router.

My "Linux experiment" mainly with Devuan (and some AntiX) has now lasted for 2-3 years.
Not exactly going strong, but I'm still hangin in. Using Devuan at least 90% of the time.

Thanks for sharing your accessories. I'm stuck: on several pages the code displayed in the codebox seems incompleten

Probably some blocking from your side.
Tried with Tor Browser with noscript and Request Policy Continued addons.
Default settings is not to accept anything. No code showed up.
Allowed javascript for the site.
Accepted requests to editmysite.com and ajax.googleapis.
And the code snippets showed up.

Two of my favourites:

Henry Mancini's Baby Elephant Walk.

Which also describes my walk with Devuan/Refracta/Zephyr/Crowz/Antix the last +1 year.

And I am happy to  say that my walk with GNU/Linux has not ended here yet:

One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created.

#6 Re: Off-topic » Life after Firefox » 2017-06-08 15:26:09

Just updated Tor Browser [7.0 (based on Mozilla Firefox 52.1.2)].
Which has now gone totally silent and is telling me to install pulseaudio,
Any way around this?

#7 Re: Devuan Derivatives » ZephyrLinux re-branded to Crowz » 2017-04-07 10:26:37

That's a pity, I really like Zephyr, running it in VirtualBox.
Thanks for the time with it and looking forward to when it is back (Phoenix?).

Yes, Oldmoss . . . you are right about those three.  I'm watching them.

Good news is that we just got a mod installed to prevent bot registrations and it seems to be working.

Apologies to everyone for the drama.  We can all have a good laugh now . . .  smile

Good to hear!

Thanks, Oldmoss . . . Unfortunately, picking off spam once it's on the board isn't the solution.  We need a spam prevention mod installed to deter spammers at registration.  That requires sys admin skills which I am lacking and I've been Linuxing for over 10 years!  Appreciate the offer though . . .

Hmmm . . . looks like someone on the team cleared out some of the cruft.  Guess I'll go in and take care of the rest of it.

Yes, prevention is the cure.
In the mean time spammers are registering at a pace.
And you guys are doing a good job. But I suspect you have missed a few, eg. johnsoras192, mgranisio192, rguemin192.
None of those have posted yet though.
In general: I think it is a waste of resources that you guys hunt down spammers this resource hungry way.
Up to you, but offer still open smile

As a Devuan (and Linux) newbie/lurker, there is not much I can contribute.
So it would be a pleasure to deal with spammers, I have a nose for those!
And I have a lot of time these days.
