If you clear that gtk2//3 hurdle, here's another
g++ -std=c++2a
which version of gcc is installed? (the installed version may not be able to handle c++2a)

ok, glad to hear someone else also noticed this. I had mixed thoughts on the noticeably lax default settings. On one hand, seemed like a sellout, a dumbing-down, catering toward "one-click install (and done)" users. On the other hand, if the dev doesn't cater to those users, the project winds up with "bad press word-of-mouth" from casual users who've tried it, and discovered that "it broke stuff" so uninstalled it without bothering to learn about adjusting profile settings.
GNUser, I thank you for sharing the solution. I had wrestled as far as has-backward-stepper=true and has-forward-stepper=true but got lost in the weeds...

Have I read the paper? Yes.
Have I attentively read it? Well...

Nested checks or not, I expect it would need "special case" exceptions handling. For instance, conky "use_own_window=true" would need to be recognized, and handled (whitelisted)... and, can I really hang my hat on, and trust, who a given window is "owned by"? What about text editor instance(s) launched as sudo to edit config files? What about any long-running windowless processes I may have running (as me, or as sudo) that I've forgotten about? I hear ya about "oops, dangit!", but I would skip the prone-to-failure guessing/checking and just wire an unconditionally triggered yad or xdialog prompt inline with the desktop session exit script.
Thanks for sharing your accessories. I'm stuck: on several pages the code displayed in the codebox seems incomplete

FWIW, I tried viewing the pages both with firefox and palemoon
Pulseaudio support is just the "default", it's still possible to build without it. You could try pulling down the Debianised source and changing the 'mozconfig' options (build flags):
# Uncomment the following option if you have not installed PulseAudio #ac_add_options --disable-pulseaudio # and uncomment this if you installed alsa-lib instead of PulseAudio #ac_add_options --enable-alsa
Then remove pulseaudio dependencies from the control file and rebuild the package. Obviously not tried it myself, but I can't see why it wouldn't work...
That citation within the BLFS wiki is outdated. Given the current codebase, we can expect the --enable-alsa directive will be ignored, and the --disable-pulseaudio will result in no sound support.
Here's another (outdated, will be ignored) as found in the current GNUzilla (icecat) build configuration:
--disable-webrtc

Someone mentioned "mozilla... following the Intel model".
Their roadmap (evident if you scour the mozilla wiki) is toward a "membership" or "freemium" model. Users would opt into subscription accounts, to gain benefits of Mozilla-provided: email, oAuth, cloudStorage, sync, groupBuys / specialOffers, antiMalware...
I've not been successful in achieving DNS reoslution.
I've never previously used "connman" (connmand).
No manpage AFAICT, and all the online tutorials I found cover only dhcp (vs static).
After hand-editing the eth0 config to specify "dns-nameservers xx.xx.xx.xx" line in /etc/network/interfaces, I also tried
`connman -n --nodnsproxy`
and eventually found my way to editing /lib/...connman/eth_looooong_idstring/settings
I've stopped/restarted the network service
I tried clearing the settings via `ip route del default`
don't know what else to try. Can I buy a clue?
crowz merits a separate topic now.
@zephyr
a followup to report that the video mode I mentioned earlier was easily resolved by removing the nomodeset lines from the bootline
It's a bump in the road, but the rebranding is probably a Good Thing.
Here's what led to me starting this topic:
Quite a while back I had downloaded zephyr ISO, but already had several others in my distrohopping queue. When I got 'round to booting it, ouch, the default bootline led to smeared/blurry display text. Spoiled from typically finding that most liveboot distros "just work" on my 8yr-old kit, I unsuccessfully grabbed at straws trying to resolve the issue. When I went back to sf.net, it was with the hope of finding a point of contact so that I might file a support request.
Based on my distrohopping experiences, my hardware components seem to be nearly universally well supported, so, in advance of the rebranding, I'll still ask: Compared to Star, Nelum, Refracta et al, what was different about the default zephr config which could introduce graphics-related problems?
Initially, this post asked about the "disappearance" of ZephyrLinux.
Now that I understand that it has "evolved", I've edited the topic title. Tally ho!
discovered this while browsing the sourceforge site today
https://sourceforge.net/projects/good-life-linux/
Good Life Linux was made so that users with older hardware could install a minimal and base system in order to make their system into what they need without any additional bloat to remove. Featuring the artwork of Ghost Sixtyseven, you get an attractive, stable, and base system (that's low on resources) which allows you to add only what you want or need. What goes on your system is up to you.
There are no major applications preinstalled; such as, Firefox, Chromium, LibreOffice, Abiword, VLC, etc. No major applications are forced on you. They can easily be installed with the Synaptic Package Manager or the terminal. Aside from including some preinstalled wireless firmware, all that you get are a few essential tools and a couple of applications that are required by LXDE. Other than that, you're free to install what you want on your system.
Features:
* Low resource usage
* Based on Devuan
* 32bit and 64bit versions

Thanks for the comments. I have no "allegations". Try "allegory" -- and when someone infers "fascism and conspiracy", that's THEIR inference.
9yr-old Jimmy's inference (kewl, a new game releasese!) would be equally valid.
One POV regards provocation as a necessity; another POV suggests that provocation, period, is inappropriate.
"Inappropriateness is never necessary?" may pose a juicy moralistic question but I didn't login here to argue.
Too often, trying to explain using word leads to glassy-eyed stares or TL;DR replies from folks who just want to eat their cake and be happy

the only other current debian + trinity efforts I'm aware of
haven't booted it, but I just read that "SparkyLinux LXDE: minimalISO version" includes trinity desktop.
ok, happy new year
"added new desktops to MinimalISO and APTus: Lumina, Trinity and PekWM"

FWIW, the only other current debian + trinity efforts I'm aware of:
Trinity desktop, debian-based without systemd: http://trinity.mypclinuxos.com (most recent release: august 2016)
Trinity, debian-based, but shipping systemd in their current release:
GALPon MiniNo http://minino.galpon.org/en
Q4OS http://minino.galpon.org/en
it's great, thanks for adding it
Seriously? Sigh.
I'm having a bad hair day.
tewak == tweak
index page showed [New Posts] so I clicked back into the topic I had recently posted to http://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=34 and noted that my post had been edited. Edited? Moderated? No, I guess the forum software (isn't there a configurable tewak for this?) has been configured to treat a ten-seconds-after-posting proofreading typo fix as an "edit".
Can it be set to forgive (not report) when no one else has het replied to the topic?
Haha! Sigh. "het" should have been "yet". Seems I can't make it through 2 lines without tripping over my fingers.
On the MIYO site
Site? Is there someplace other than "sourceforge.net/projects/miyolinux/" ?
I usually don't fuss with choosing themes, but was forced to here due to difficulty reading text within "code" boxes (Ouch, too contrasy, black stripes against light background). Several in the middle of the list (dropdown) seem nearly identical. To my eye, all are dark-on-dark.
I've opted for the last choice on the list, but it's not ideal. Appreciate it if admin could install at least one light/midtone background theme which provides a moderately contrasy darkgray-on-gray or black-on-medium(gray/purple/whatever) background color.
Thanks, in advance, for considering this request.
exegnulinux.org
desktop environment is KDE3 Trinity
June 2016 release indicates based on Devuan
I've booted it. It's solid...
...but I've never seen it included in lists mentioning Devuan derivatives
Most notably (to me), exegnulinux is not mentioned in this recent 45min dyne.org video presentation:
Devuan GNU+Linux presented at FSCONS 2016
(posted to youtube within the past week or so)

Did I miss something? 4.3Gb iso... when I created a bootable pendrive, I discovered only intall-related boot menu options. No liveboot? Persistence?
Okay, I will try this Refracta fUnOfficial iso:
