20:09:01 <CONyeEast> have a question about a bug that came up when updating ceres today
20:09:03 <CONyeEast> #1025312
20:09:30 <CONyeEast> it seems to screw with anything gtk3
20:10:06 <CONyeEast> i havent installed the package but was wondering if i should pin it or install it
20:11:29 <CONyeEast> i cant seem to figure out if it bricks the pc or not

21:35:30 <gnarface> CONyeEast: doesn't look to me like it would render it unbootable but if you depend on a graphical login, some of them might not work anymore... fixing it is above my head so i'd probably recommend not updating
21:36:40 <CONyeEast> ah okay. Luckily i use tde more than xfce so i might be "safe" even if i did install it but ill just pin it and make sure it doesnt install. Thanks

05:32:06 <lynsk> hm would there be a good reason to use sh over bash for runit scripts?

05:35:21 <rwp> Yes. Because sh is portable POSIX shell and bash is not. That's enough just for that one reason alone!
05:35:49 <rwp> But it is your system and your rules. If you want to use bash instead of sh for your system that is your choice to make.
05:36:08 <hagbard> sh is dash. The package description says why dash is meant for scripts: https://packages.debian.org/sid/dash
05:36:54 <rwp> To be clear I use bash for my command line. But bash for scripts is a huge slow behemoth and dash is a lean fast engine.
05:39:54 <lynsk> hmhm I should really start doing that then, thanks u
05:41:40 <hagbard> bash for comfort, bells&whistles, and dash for lean&mean
05:46:44 <lynsk> :)
