Best regards:

I do not raise doubts. Months ago I had to purchase a computer with a card that needed a new kernel. After trying several distributions I was not happy. I took a risk and tried Devuan testing. Everything is going very well. I just want to thank all those who make this excellent distribution possible. I have been using Debian since 2000 and I switched to Devuan because I needed something lighter in the computer classroom that I manage for my students. I am really very happy with Devuan. Everyone says it's a Debian without systemd, but I think it's much more. The dependencies are simpler. It doesn't install so many things. Everything is lighter. It is very stable. It's perfect. A feeling I haven't had for a long time with Debian.

You guys have done a great job.

Thanks

Daniel

Dear colleagues:

I have a webcam with integrated microphone and separately I have bought a professional microphone with minijack connection. If I use the webcam, when recording with vokoscreen a very annoying background noise appears and that I have disabled the webcam microphone with alsamixer and pavucontrol. When I do not use the webcam, the background noise does not appear. Any suggestions before buying another webcam without microphone?

Thanks

Greetings:

I don't know if I'm a distro-hopper. I don't think so. I've been using Debian for 20 years and with sporadic incursions into other operating systems like FreeBSD. For some time now I have noticed Debian becoming more and more unstable and heavy. I'm a teacher and I manage a small classroom of 14 computers. They are modest machines. With Debian some computers didn't go as I wanted. I decided to try Slackware and I liked it very much. I put it in my laptop and I was happy, but every time I updated the 14 computers it took longer than normal. Sometimes I had to compile by hand and I got bored. A few months ago I tried Devuan out of curiosity and found it very fast and really stable, much more than Debian and I don't see big differences with Slackware. As I am familiar with Debian, Devuan is comfortable for me, but with better performance and stability. Therefore, I don't understand how is possible to spoil a good operating system like Debian by putting it systemd. I had some problems in ACPI with systemd. Frankly, now I understand the developers who got out from Debian project. I don't know what system I will install in a few years, but at the moment I'm really happy with Devuan. I have convinced my daughters to migrate from Lubuntu to Debian with MATE. I don't like LXQT, I'm sorry.

Finally thanks to all the hard-working developers working on this project. This teacher and his students are very comfortable in Devuan. Congratulations on the excellent results.

Greetings,

Is firmware-realtek installed? Is the card set as the default wireless interface in wicd?
I've got an 8723AE and it's working as expected.

Post output of ifconfig and iwconfig (or 'ip a' if you don't have ifconfig).

Sorry. Now wireless is working. It was not the card but had bad resolv.conf due to a bad previous uninstallation of connam and wicd...

I really like Devuan's stability and speed.

Thanks

Dear list:

First of all, thank you for admitting me. I have moved to Devuan after more than 20 years in Debian due to certain instabilities and various problems with systemd. Everything goes OK but I have problems with wireless. In principle detects the card, but does not connect. I have tried wicd and network-manager. I have compiled the kernel and driver, changed modconf at boot time, use a modern kernel.... Nothing seems to make this card work. The fact is that for a while it was working with Slackware, but I got tired of compiling. I prefer Devuan.

Any idea?

Thank you very much
