Sure, thanks a lot to u439839 (Kuni), who brought this workaround (or circumvention) here! It was the ultimate deliverance... Hope, other people affected by this bug can find this info too.. even if it's not a real "solution", i can do my work on my main pc again. So for me it's an indescribable, fantastic help. So thanks to everybody, who made this happen

for me, working all the day long on Ubuntu with XFCE and Nvidia proprietary driver the crashes were extremely disturbing and particularly blocking my workflow. Along with Firefox and Thunderbird there were more applications like GoldenDict and some other tools i depend on affected by the bug.
... disabling "display compositing" in XFCE.
... Settings->'Window Manager Tweaks'->Compositor.
was the perfect solution,
