oh, am glad youo brought the topic up, could chime in, since i have one headphone with usb, recognized called plantronics c2 or something, that has similar problem; it is: when plugged in, it is extremely dandouerouly loud, and i need to scale down to 10% (mind you am already hearing impaired); and the bad thing: every time i plug back in, it reverts to the original unsafe sound volume (it does not remember setting previously set?)

the setuup is also devuan 6.0 with Mate; however, no pulseaudio or pavucontrol, just alsa with arateconf ;

have other headphone/mics combo at disposal (those with jack) that dont display the behaviour, but would be glad to learn about a possible solution fix for the issue
since the headphone in principle would be good for dialogue but maybe to aggressive sincce it uses an internal dsp; the volume is reglated on the headphone itself, on mac and windows this function well, and there it not such issue;

thanks.

I have multiple systems running Devuan MATE. On an HP laptop with AMD processor, upon every boot the volume level resets to 0%. On an Intel NUC, the volume resets to 100%. Is there any way to force volume level to a safe level so I don't blow my eardrums out?

P.S. I would like to set the *initial* value.
