Yet another Synaptic issue which is disappointing, I try to build for the garden-variety user who doesn't want to use a terminal, so I try to get everything done in GUI's for the point-and-click folks. Multiple issues in Synaptic but I was able to install the amdgpu package and it's depends from backports using apt.

I just upgraded an excalibur VM and it held back xserver-xlibre-video-amdgpu. I'm not sure if the old version I had was from xlibre-deb or xlibre-debian. There was a mix of packages so I finished upgrading to get all xlibre-debian - except that one package. I realized I didn't have backports enabled, and the instructions don't say which packages you need from backports. I think I figured it out. (the newer version installed without complaint)

Yeah the upgrade went smoothly but same result, couldn't get amdgpu. I then enabled backports and updated and tried to install it but same result, error notice that it was named but didn't seem to exist. Those 3 packages you mentioned were the ones that threw me a monkey-wrench several months ago, asking to install those made it want to un-install a big chunk of the system including parts of Xlibre itself. I'm going to make an MBR run without it just to have a good working iso first, then i'll see if I can get that working, and then work on enabling efi.

Unfortunately, the VM is no more starting to the graphical display. I get a blinking cursor on a black screen, and a bar that might be something like a pattern from a text output where the pixels are not aligned.

Seen others mention it too. To add info to that other thread I posted, just updated the mate-mini iso that runs Xlibre, everything went great, but I still can't install the amdgpu package for some reason. Before it was a conflict, today it simply gives me an error message in Synaptic that it's aware of the package but can't find any contents basically, regardless of whether backports is enabled or not.

I thought the doc is wrong and corrected my entry according to a correct deb822 syntax as used by Debian/Devuan where "Suites" stands for the release names and "Components" for main contrib ..... These "corrections" caused the release file issues.

When using your version, apt update works and my VM is getting the latest xlibre update. With one exception: xserver-xlibre-video-amdgpu. That is fixed when I run an

apt -t excalibur-backports install xserver-xlibre-video-amdgpu
