			<description><![CDATA[<p>thanks aitor,</p><p>I did what you suggested<br />apt-get install eudev libeudev1</p><p>and after rebooting, which seems always necessary after installing something to show up,<br />hplip was deleted.</p><p>I installed hplip new<br />after rebooting I checked in <br />http://localhost:631/<br />but there were no printers installed.</p><p>I could not find the HP package which I used before to install a printer.<br />but only the &quot;printer&quot; app in my package starter (I don´t know if that is the right word)</p><p>but printing is now working. that´s the most important.<br />thanks very much</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>thanks for help</p><p>I tried as fsmithred said to let hplip detect a USB printer.<br />after entering all the data it did not take it, but the programme shut down and I couldn´t open it anymore.<br />I had to restart the system.</p><p>In localhost I tried to do the same and it was possible to add a new printer.<br />I entered in hplip my printer and saved everything.<br />then I tried to print and there came up a message:</p><p>Unable to initialize USB access via libusb, libusb error -99 (Other error)</p><p>That seems the be the problem.<br />I checked In Synaptic that libusb is installed. But there are many other libusb packages.</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>one more info that&#160; may or may not help yoiu</p><p>actually had a problem with the usb cable (amon other issues) sometime ago;</p><p>it really can be usb cable can be somewhat faulty; after changing the usb cable to another one, anchors away.</p><p>(there was other issue with setting up the kprinter initially over usb instead of ethernet/wifi on windows; but thats a whole other issue and specific epson-software related;)</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>Did you try letting hplip detect a USB printer instead of trying to find a network printer?</p><p>Open hplip. It says no installed devices found.<br />Click on Setup Device.<br />Select first checkbox for USB and click Next.<br />If it does not find the printer, click on Back and then on Advanced Options.<br />Then check the Manual Discovery box where you can enter the USB device ID. (and then Next)</p><p>FWIW, cups still lists my HP4L that I bought in 1995. (May it rest in peace.)</p><p>If you do want to set it up as a network printer, the Host that hplip is looking for is probably the IP address of the printer. I don&#039;t know how you get that or set that - check the printer manual.</p><p>If you really want to do it with a WORKGROUP, you need to set up the printer on a Windows network.</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>I typically use the package <span class="bbc">system-config-printer</span>, it&#039;s a nice little gui for helping get set up, and works fine in my experience with hplip and all the other backend drivers and cups stuff.</p><p>If it&#039;s a network printer as opposed to direct connect, <span class="bbc">cups-browsed</span> might help.</p>]]></description>
