I let it remove its list of almost everything, then upgraded and then cleaned-up the bloat I don' use and re-installed what I needed.

You may be able to solve it by first manually installing the dependency.
ie: libwacom-common (= 2.6.0-1)

Once installed and present in the system, the dist-upgrade should go smoothly as apt will find it and proceed.

If that does not work, you may have to uninstall whatever requires libwacom-common before the dist-upgrade.

It would seem that libwacom2 in Chimaera has been replaced with libwacom9 in Daedalus, Excalibur and Ceres.

I'm inclined that way too - using openbox, did not use tasksel to install any gui stuff

if no other usable idea comes along will just byte the bullet and let it do it's thing

if am not mistaken , have done the same just some days ago, it went about just fine.

probably it is metapackages that are being uninstalled; in case you really got the desktop uninstalled , you shoulb be able re-install via "sudo tasksel" your desktop

I did a netinstall of chimaera and now want to upgrade to daedalus
changed sources-list, did update and now want to upgrade:

I get the following:

$ sudo apt -f upgrade

I tried to uninstall wacom* but it wants to uninstall just-about everything else

How can I fix this?
