as for win98 in a vm, are you talking about dosbox-x?

Because you can install any windows up to windows ME I have heard.

I work in Government so these machines are security managed, they won't be running anything other than what's provided.

At home, I don't run Windows 11 or any Windows version apart from Win 98 in a VM. All my hardware runs Linux.

Your mile may of course vary as to what will happen if you do this though.

Does your computer have two HDDs/SSDs?

If so one can have that windows crap and the other Devuan.

Dual booting might not work so well due to  windows not playing nice as some say.

About too weeks ago they got me with the 'we are removing you from the network ploy' so now I am a Windows 11 user.
As said it's been around two weeks and I have had to update and reboot five times now, when is it going to stop!

As a bonus the very expensive hardware I use isn't compatible with Windows 11, the response from the vendor is upgrade your hardware. They could just upgrade their drivers but no, it is far more profitable to upgrade the hardware.

I remember many moons ago the same thing happened when we moved from XP to Windows 7, I feel like I'm in the wrong business sometimes.

At least I can come home to my Devuan machine and experience a little bit of freedom and a glass of vino!
