Ohhhh, sorry.

It is actually there!

Starting on an terminal, I got what I thought was a png-error-image. Now I realize that it is actually the application - only in a collapsed form which can be expanded, maximized.
That was unfamiliar... specially since this is all in German. I think I will try to get Daedalus in English, so some problemas can be avoided.

Thank you very much!

Raulcla

Thanks! No, I do not run Gnome, I use Mate.
So I tried uninstalling the gnome-settings-daemon and reinstalling the gnome-disk-utility.

But nothing changes, it just does not open. I look at dependencies in aptitude and I see that it "collides" with the 32-bit (i3...) version (which of course isn't installed). But I do not know how that is relevant.

What I get when I try to start the utility, for instance on the console, is the information (as .png:)

"Laufwerke" (Disks): "no application has been selected". The same happens
when I use de applet or the main menu + system tools.
No idea what can be wrong.

Raulcla

The gnome-disk-utility does not depend on the gnome-settings-daemon, in fact it's listed as breaking the settings daemon if you DO have it installed and the version is less than 3.24 I guess. Current version for the settings daemon is 43.0-4 in the repo.

I have the disk utiility on my systems and it works fine. I do not have the settings daemon installed at all on any of them, unless you are running GNOME for your DE it's not needed.

Are you running Gnome for your DE?

I use Daedalus and I cannot start gnome-disks, whether with the applications-applet or on the console. Reinstalling the package does not help. I find in "dependencies" that a package appears as "damaged" ("Beschädigt: gnome-settings-daemon (<3.24)).

Perhaps this means that this last package should keep an older version (<3.24). The installed one is 43.0-1).

I don't have this problem on another computer with Chimaera, where the package works perfectly.

Thanks for help or tipps.

Raulcla
