Some distros do allow you to choose to see it in plain text or not, so I think it is just a 'choice'.

]]> Wed, 31 May 2017 10:43:09 +0000 https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1824#p1824 <![CDATA[Text Based Install: Wifi passphrase is unobscured.]]> https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1810#p1810 I am not sure if this is a bug or if it is working as intended.  When I started an install of Devuan Jessie on my laptop I had to use the text based installer because my touchpad wasn't working (Yes, I am looking at you Synaptic Multi-touch proprietary software blob!).  When the net-install.iso found my wifi card (by the way, awesome job with that) it asked which wireless AP it should connect to and asked what kind of encrytion to use.  It then asked for the secret passphrase for the AP and I was able to see the passphrase in plain text in the installer.  Honestly, I was expecting that passphrase to be obscured like all other passwords in the installation process.  For me it's a small thing but it could be a big deal for someone else so thought I should ask if it's a bug.
