@goliniux ... Thanks! I have experienced some challenges with Devuan but was able to overcome them, sometimes with help. Currently using Excalibur, LXQt, Xlibre, with NVIDIA drivers (yuck, but I play games sometimes), on a Dell 9510 XPS. Working Great!

To the Devuan team: After testing and using Devuan (daedalus to Excalibur), I made a small $100 (BTC) donation to Devuan. I know it isn't much but as time goes on I will continue to donate. I am no developer or coder, just basically a Linux Enthusiast Superuser....... humble little ol' me. It was my thanks for y'all doing such a great job and having a decent stance on Freedom, keeping the politics out, and just focusing on good software. Like the good ol' Linux days. I have been a Linux user since 2004 and have supported other Distros, like Linux Mint, MX, and Mepis. It's now Devuan's turn, and I feel it's going to be a long relationship.

Devuan theming has never been random art work. I always saw it as a reflection of the release name. I am going to post here links to my introductions to the themes for several Devuan releases. The colors are well thought out to reflect the chosen name of each release:

4. The unfinished Excalibur "deathmetal" theme color palette is here:

It is an anti-war statement named "deathmetal". It combines the dark metal of a medieval sword (I looked at a LOT of them) with a tinge of "gangrene" which is a possible result to the victim. The green tint is also an oblique reference to the matrix proving that humans never seem learn.

PS. The signature layout for the theme is non-negotiable.

Hey, mweishaar . . . That's really cute but how does it relate to Excalibur or Freia? It is also only about 1% of what is needed to theme a Devuan release. Theming is a very deep dive. It always took me several months to get a theme together because there are so many parts that need to be integrated. Do have a look at this to get oriented. Note that I have not touched any of this for several years so there will likely be a lot of debugging to get things to work with the current GTK etc :

IIRC we decided to "freeze" the theming change per release for www and other online sites but all the other parts need to be integrated with the current theme.

There are many moving parts and revisions upstream may require fiddling to accommodate new GTK etc. so be prepared to take a deep dive. You can find the theming instructions here:

FYI . . . I always tried to create a color palette that reflected the name of the release. For Excalibur that was "deathmetal" (referring to King Arthur's sword). It is very subtle so look at it full screen:

For some reason I thought this had been taken up by someone after you originally announced you were looking to hand over. I'm not expert at theming but have modified themes for myself and I am in the process of updating a couple of the Bisigi themes to work in Xfce and Mate, though this is a trial and error approach.

I wouldn't mine having a look and helping out with theming for Devuan. As said no export but I learn by doing!

When I am home tonight, I will have a look at the github link.

No one has stepped up to do the theming since I "retired" from that task some years ago but all the old themes are still available and include a grub screen:

Note that due to "improvements" upstream, they may or may not continue to be viable.
