over that, that installation with XFCE4 / other desktops includes more controls and limits the freedom of users to install different packages.

it is not a question of level: the same things installed in correspondent «Devuan Puppy's» have success.

why not a Deadalus or better Ceres just-CLI installation?

I work to make for myself a compact installation of devuan in 32 bit as well as in 64 bit.

as soon vmlinuz-6.1.0-10 comes into the installation, the mouse (and probably more) freezes! In all cases...

what can be the reason?

as I did fail through using ready to use devuan derivatives coming with other kernels (they work all until no 6.1.0-10), I did try to install original actual devuan daedalus 32 bit with the usual net install. it comes only with 6.1.0-10 with the result the installation freezes immediately. but I can start in CLI. how to go / go back to an older or more newer kernel?

second problem: the net install seems to install immediately xfce4 and all also if at installation time you unmark that option (with the negative effect: you can not test more! all is in the installation; 6.1.0-10 works in CLI. would a lighter installation without complete xfce have more success?). it is not good!
