If you want the latest software, your option is to use a distro that provides the latest software.

Debian/Devuan deliberately and specifically do not do this.

Testing and Unstable are development versions - for developers and testers - and both of those are currently on v43 because Bookworm is in soft freeze stage, because again: Testing/Unstable are not rolling release distros, they are for development and testing purposes.

Also, Gnome v44 was only released two weeks ago, so even amongst rolling distros there's not many with it - DistroWatch Search can identify your current options: //distrowatch.com/search.php?pkg=gnome-shell&pkgver=44

(Arch isn't in that list - it appears to still be on Gnome v43, and a quick search suggests it's likely to be that way for another week or two.)

Welcome to Debian Stable (or more accurately, a distro with almost 1:1 tracking of the same).
Not having the latest SNS in the stable repos is not a bug, it's a feature. If a rolling-release with rapid updates is what you want, run a rolling release.

I'm on Chimaera Devuan. What are the best solutions to upgrade Gnome to the 44 version? It's painfully slow updating in main repos. Mostly I use Arch, so it's in my repos a day or two later. But for the slow and old laptop I prefer Devuan. I believe Gnome is 2 releases away now. Very disappointing experience.
