I think they switch to numbers when it goes stable, so it shows which point-release you are at.

I guess this file is a copy of the corresponding file from Debian. Just verified with a Bullseye installation in my VBox. There I also get 11.2.

in testing/ceres i get release name :

/etc/debian_version :
bookworm/sid
/etc/devuan_version :
chimaera/ceres

Devuan chimaera is based on debian bullseye right, is there anyway to get this "bullseye" text from any file?
im unable to find it, only chimaera showing everywhere
