you could try to add

noblacklist ${HOME}/.config/palemoon
whitelist ${HOME}/.config/palemoon

and then launch it like this

firejail palemoon --profile ~/.config/palemoon

Yep same issue im sure i had way back then using firejail and no dbus. I dont know what this means or how to dbug it.

i'm not a firejail expert, but it appears to work for me.

i dont have dbus and it works fine
the only thing i notice that there is a short error message when launching it from the terminal, but i just ignore the message and it works fine
you dont need to install a .deb package, just download the tarball from http://linux.palemoon.org/download/mainline/

i have a Script to install/update/launch palemoon

1. cannot firejail it, no sandbox features that i am aware of.

2. unable to use it for banking, bank website says to update the browser as it is too old.

3. depends on dbus and unable to install it without it.

Other than that it is a pretty lightweight resource efficient web browser, but so is ungoogled chromium.

As someone who supports palemoon, yes they can be on certain issues, such as "piracy" which isn't really a word to be used in modern times because pirates killed people and took everything from people...

and sometimes they can be rough around the edges too.

That being said,  I prefer them over firefox developers and mozilla.  They at least have some purpose and aren't in it for greedy reasons like mozilla and firefox devs.

Also, I wonder if firefox is on its way out... they been firing devs more and more lately...

Whatever happens though, I hope they get rid of rust trademark restrictions.

For the Washington Post video, go to Tools > Preferences > Content, and at the bottom uncheck "Enable MSE for MP4 video." Didn't check the rest of your links, but if it's the audio that's the problem in all of them, they should all work properly now.

I must add, most of the ted talks I have tried to play lately have been through FaceBook, so I'll check those links in future as well.

The vids were playing at normal speed, but with the audio pitch-shifted to Darthvader-like unintelligible.
