... getting truly off topic for this thread.
Indeed ...
As the OP, I quite agree.
Way off topic.
...mods could be kind enough to split this off ...
+1
Thanks for bringing it up.

if you using a tarball, try, firejail ./basilisk-bin
firejail /home/youruser/basilisk/basilisk-bin
change it however you like to the location of your web browser directory.
In your case, it would be
firejail palemoon-bin
Not working for palemoon tarball.
it wants me to create a profile but when i do this appears. Im using the GTK3 tarball, perhaps i should try the GTK2 version.
Profile couldn’t be created. Probably the chosen folder isn’t writable. [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [nsIToolkitProfileService.createProfile]" nsresult: "0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://mozapps/content/profile/createProfileWizard.js :: onFinish :: line 191" data: no]
anyhow this is getting truly off topic for this thread. If the mods could be kind enough to split this off in their spare time. Maybe title it firejailing palemoon web browser.
Why not make a new thread then? Incidently, that error is odd, Let me see if I can get it working on beowulf devuan.
That is odd, it works on my devuan beowulf... hmm. the gtk3 one. Which devuan you using?

Edit:
Yep same issue im sure i had way back then using firejail and no dbus. I dont know what this means or how to dbug it.

1. cannot firejail it, no sandbox features that i am aware of.
we had a thread about that a while ago: Tips for using Palemoon
i'm not a firejail expert, but it appears to work for me.
3. depends on dbus and unable to install it without it.
i dont have dbus and it works fine
the only thing i notice that there is a short error message when launching it from the terminal, but i just ignore the message and it works fine
you dont need to install a .deb package, just download the tarball from http://linux.palemoon.org/download/mainline/
i have a Script to install/update/launch palemoon

2. unable to use it for banking, bank website says to update the browser as it is too old.
3. depends on dbus and unable to install it without it.
Other than that it is a pretty lightweight resource efficient web browser, but so is ungoogled chromium.

Why doesn't it surprise me that you of all who responded on this thread says that?
As someone who supports palemoon, yes they can be on certain issues, such as "piracy" which isn't really a word to be used in modern times because pirates killed people and took everything from people...
and sometimes they can be rough around the edges too.
That being said, I prefer them over firefox developers and mozilla. They at least have some purpose and aren't in it for greedy reasons like mozilla and firefox devs.
Also, I wonder if firefox is on its way out... they been firing devs more and more lately...
Whatever happens though, I hope they get rid of rust trademark restrictions.

Please note that existential reflections are likely to serve their purpose better as separate, "off-top" threads.

Oooooooooopsssssssss ...
Seems I'm really not ending this week on the right frequency. 8^|
Too much time cooped up?
In any case, after unchecking everything MSE, things are working properly again.
Indeed, thank you Ron.
Thanks to all for their input.
And sorry for the slip-ups.
Best,
A.
]]>For the Washington Post video, go to Tools > Preferences > Content, and at the bottom uncheck "Enable MSE for MP4 video." Didn't check the rest of your links, but if it's the audio that's the problem in all of them, they should all work properly now.
I'm testing Ron's suggestion, and just ran a Ted Talk "https://www.ted.com/talks/richard_coffi … anguage=en",
And the audio is fine. Thank you Ron. ;-)
I must add, most of the ted talks I have tried to play lately have been through FaceBook, so I'll check those links in future as well.
The vids were playing at normal speed, but with the audio pitch-shifted to Darthvader-like unintelligible.
Thank you
]]>There is no Devuan Stretch.
Damn ...
How utterly embarrassing. 8^|
I stand corrected: I'm running Devuan ASCII.
Thanks for pointing it out.
Cheers,
