The current 2026/III release of ArchivistaBox is packed with features. It
now includes support for Docker, Ollama (local AI), and native Whisper.

I would especially like to highlight the support for AMD graphics cards
(tested with RX 9070 XT) via the Rocm drivers. Ollama and Whisper now work
directly with the graphics card. To my knowledge, this is quite unique
within Devuan.

As a Swiss person, my English isn't perfect. So far, I've been using a
commercial solution for translations. Now, I'm using the open-source
solution translategemma, which translates this text locally into English,
completely without using the cloud, right here on my machine. With that in
mind, I hope you enjoy the new 2026/III release.

When booting AVMultimedia on a Lenovo Yoga 2-in-1 tablet with an Intel processor, we unfortunately noticed that the process took about 20 seconds longer than usual and that the taskbar (start menu) was missing afterwards. After some time-consuming research, we found out that this problem is known, but no ready-made solution could be found. For this reason, starting with version 2025/VIII, the system will check again at the end of the startup process to see if the Start menu has actually been launched. If this is not the case, the taskbar will be launched manually.

In addition, the Control Center can now be started using ‘Panel’ (Icon on Desktop). When this is done, the taskbar is always started as well (if it is not already available).

Activate sleep mode

Previously, the command ‘echo mem >/sys/power/state’ had to be entered with ‘root’ in the terminal. Now, sleep mode can be activated using the power button (taskbar at the bottom right). Click there to 'Activate sleep mode' and confirm it. To wake up, press any button.

DVD subtitles can be converted to text-based subtitles (srt/vtt) with vobsub2srt and BlueRay subtitles with sup2srt.

The directory /home/archivista/data has been added to the Flatpak package manager (however, this is only the case if no Flatpak programs are installed. If Flatpak is already in use, please issue the following command with root:

flatpak override --filesystem=/home/archivista/data:rw

The applications Scratch, GCompris, TuxType and some other small tools are no longer included in the 2025 version; however, they can be used via Flatpak.

I am having difficulty with German language, I boot in non-uefi mode, I don't see where to change the language to English.

I apologise for my ignorance, but how do I change the language to English, I do not see the separate grub boot screens.

I am competent enough to edit config files.

No problem at all, the doc is a bit limited on this issue.

If you use legacy mode, you have to use the following codes (first start screen) to get the desired mode/language:

dhd = german with hard disk
dno = german without hard disk
dhda = alternative mode wtih hard disk
dnoa = alternative mode withouth hard disk
ehd = english with hard disk
eno = english without hard disk
ehda = alternative mode with hard disk
enoa = alternative mode without hard disk

In your case you probably need: ehd

Ctrl+PrintScreen: Screen shots are taken every 5 seconds. This data is processed in the background with tesseract to cerate searchable PDF files. To stop recording: Shift+Ctrl+PrntScreen. Capt2PDF works on the local desktop and the user retains control of all the data.
