Why not look in ASCII and/or Beowulf repos for what you need before jumping to Ceres.

no, I will not use Devuan unstable completely but check if there are packages not available in Devuan Jessie being able to be used by pinning in Devuan Jessie. I hope pinning is possible?

Devuan unstable (aka Debian's sid) is called ceres. If you want to use that, update your sources.list

If you're asking to use sid within a devuan system, try a chroot or virtual machindm
