[SOLVED] tor browser bundle doesn't run

I decompressed and unpacked it but it is not starting:

https://www.pic-upload.de/view-35737831 … n.png.html

I have problems with the package tor too, but is this a dependency?
Also what are all dependencies for the tor-browser-bundle in devuan?
For example I could not run the tbb without installed firefox-esr or palemoon before....(maybe it needs "just" adwaita or gnome-icon-themes?)

thx 4 ur help wink

Re: [SOLVED] tor browser bundle doesn't run

tor-

I have success with tor by download tor-browser-linux64-7.5.6_en-US.tar.xz from here-
https://www.torproject.org/download/dow … sy.html.en

and manually extract somewhere (I use /opt/apps).

to run you in terminal run tor/Browser/start-tor-browser (/opt/apps/tor/Browser/start-tor-browser)

or

to add to your menu;
copy the start-tor-browser.desktop to <home>.local/share/applications and it will appear under Internet.

Re: [SOLVED] tor browser bundle doesn't run

Yes thx I know the basics wink
I think I need some other packages maybe some network stuff or something like that, so I installed net-tools netbase and ifupdown but it didn't help, so I removed them again...

The bundle always worked with the default minimal installation done by the "expert-"installer, on my installations in the past, but of course this time I do minimalizing the default packagelist, so something is missing...

Also this firefox "dependency" is weird...

Re: [SOLVED] tor browser bundle doesn't run

I did not have any problems with tor, just installed the .tar.xz in both KDE and XFCE and it worked "out of the box".  NO other packages needed.  My installs are devuan net install expert graphical, no desktop.  Then I manually install desktop.

I have a minimal sterile xfce install on another pc and I will try tor on it tomorrow.  Will get back to you.

Re: [SOLVED] tor browser bundle doesn't run

thx but i think when u are using these giant desktop things, apt (or whatever u are using) will install some other packages wich are necessary for running the tbb or tor wink

I only use a minimal xserver with dwm and stterm, no display- or desktopmanager.
I think u cant help me out with my problem by trying to reproduce them on an eycandy desktop wink
But thx again for ur try.

Re: [SOLVED] tor browser bundle doesn't run

It probably needs whatever firefox-esr needs. Run apt-cache depends firefox-esr to see the list. There might also be hints in the tor log for what is wrong or what is missing.

As u can see in the pic at my first post: there is no log.
And firefox-esr is installed and before that I tried to run the tbb with only the dependencies of firefox-esr.

Re: [SOLVED] tor browser bundle doesn't run

got it to work.
i installed netbase, ifupdown and net-tools and reboot the system.
without these packages i could use firefox-esr, wegt and so on, why not tor?
and are all these 3 packages necessary?
