Devuan Kernel = Debian Kernel = deblobbed?

Hi newbie here

I read that the Devuan installer loads non-free firmware, so I am curious if the kernel is deblobbed just like the Debian kernel. If I run the installer in expert mode and choose to not install any non-free stuff, will the kernel still have firmware blobs?

The kernel in devuan IS the debian kernel. We don't change that.

The installer will automatically install non-free firmware in some situations. To be sure it asks your permission first, do two things:

Choose expert install.
Choose a mirror.

purely informational, there's another deblobbed kernel, from the linux-libre project: http://www.fsfla.org/ikiwiki/selibre/linux-libre/
check freesh repo/mirros for deb packages.

Any advantages over the Debian/Devuan kernel?

The libre kernel will not allow you to accidentally (or deliberately) install non-free firmware.

That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
