Firefox 'proper'

Will Devuan follow forever in Debian's footsteps in having only Firefox-ESR in stable and testing, or will we see an official package for the latest Firefox sooner or later anywhere else than the experimental repos?

Re: Firefox 'proper'

Latest Firefox/Chrome/Vivaldi etc is bleeding edge and unstable in debian terms, so i dont think so.

Re: Firefox 'proper'

I'm also interested in FF quantum stable.  If anyone manages to build it, i'd be interested in a package for AMD64

Just download the statically compiled binary in tarball form and you can install whatever version you like:

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

I've been doing this for years. Just un-tar the thing in /opt, and it even updates if necessary when you go to 'About Firefox'. Been working perfectly for me.

That's what I'm running right now, for the lack of an official package.

Re: Firefox 'proper'

Works! ... pleasant surprise.  I guess I'm just used to a package distributed by the distro I use.

I use the distro package for just about everything except for FF - the newer versions really do seem better to me...
