Cool, it worked! (on excalibur) I had to look inside the DEBBUILD file to see what the dependencies were so I could install them first as root. My user is not in the sudo group. I couldn't find an option for easydeb to print the deps list. Did I miss that, or it doesn't exist?

Also, I found an old version of hot-babe from medibuntu on my hard drive. I installed that on chimaera and there are a couple of differences. The buntu version has a nudity warning in a debconf dialog so you can cancel the install if you think you might be offended; that's missing in the DUR build. And buntu puts it in the Accessories menu instead of the Games menu. Other than that, they seem to be the same. I might need to compile a kernel to get a more thorough test.

You mean build dependencies? just running easydeb (no -s flag) will throw an error with the exact command you need to launch as root. If you are using doas, the root helper can be configured in /etc/easydeb.conf at the end of the file (it uses internally a whitelist of allowed helpers).

I can add warnings. I don't think that's a very good system monitor, it's better in the games category.

The point was, Debian removed it and it is censored left and right. with easydeb, you can go around all that crap. And it's a lot more convenient then building it all your self (now i'll add the warnings and the entire planet can benefit). Also, it's ultra light and decentralized, that's important for distributing.

Most of that is a recent development too, FDN went downhill pretty steeply after the "official" admin takeover.
To be fair much of the aggravation is due to anti-ai defences, but if the result is that obnoxious for humans you're doing something very wrong.

It's also using GTK2, whereas I can see that this reupload (which I did catch earlier, Exponentialmatrix, thank you) is now using GTK3.

Instead of the continual comments about the board and admin - indicating some ongoing dissatisfaction, I suggest that a member of the Devuan team request a forum at LQ and once established, let the users that prefer either venue make their choices. Debian has had this for years and, overwhelmingly most users go to FDN, but a handful go there - so there's nothing harmful about it.
