The Wifi still isn't working.

There were other things about the system that were missing and I didn't have functionality like I should have. Arrow keys, forward and backward buttons were not present to move from directory to directory and other key things were just not in place to have a functional desktop system.

After downloading the full devuan amd64 bit .iso that is 3.7 Gig's last night I have decided this morning to perform a fresh install with that fresh .iso.

I'll be back to share how the fresh installation went.

I'm in the middle of the fresh installation. After I create a 500 MB Fat 32 partition and a /ext4 partition on the Samsung nvme I select "Finish partitioning and write changes to disk"

The Partition MGR only shows the 500 MB partition and the other 2 swap partitons on the other drives on my desktop to be formatted.
The 249. GB partition that I created for the /root partition doesn't show.

UPDATE* Good news is I was able to figure out how to partition correctly and Devuan is now install and under Cinnamon works.
Gnome boots to a all black screen.

The wifi isn't working so I will try to do exactly as you have taught me in the above post's by placing the /iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode
in the /lib/firmware directory.

What usually works like a charm is getting a newer firmware from testing, unstable, experimental, amongst other things, like ublock-origin.
I look at /var/log/syslog for what firmware is requested, download & dpkg -i & usually cp -r the /lib/firmware/whatever to /root (and laters back to /lib/firmware,) & then dpkg -P the package because there's tons of firmware I don't need.
Another thing, if the firmware is buggy (unhandled firmware interrupt,) iwconfig wlan0 power off, particularly in console as the message will keep popping up and mess up your display.
Also useful, ifconfig wlx00127b217e6e name wlan0
In /var/log/syslog or /var/log/messages you will see the firmware request about 80% to 90% down the log.
